This morning I get a tweet from someone at the Trib , which is a retweet from Leary

Remember what I was saying about where the Cutler story came from? Great reporting by @BradBiggs MUST READ>>> chicagotribune

So Leary not breaking the story, but breaking the story about who broke the story! what a little shithead.

It's really damning that instead of talking on the field stuff,the Bears have become something for TMZ.

What was Holmes say about where the story came from?

Didn't Rappaport say in his original report that it came from within the Bears organization? If so, what' they mystery that Holmes was solving?

I haven't seen any recent tweets from Cheryl Scott. I wonder if Larry finally kidnapped her and she's locked up in his mom's attic.

man i remember years ago when the score first got hte sox back and laurence would have his little 30min shows i invented THE LAURENCE HOLMES DRINKING GAME which promised you get you shitfaced in under 30 mintues.

i think it went like when he mentioned that he had a lot of show to get done in 30mins you were to take a shot. another shot when he mentioned what his peeps on facebook were taking about. subsequent mentions of his lack of time / online-brethern were double shots. and then you were gonna have a beer handy for some other things.... but basically it just covered what you said..... how he'd take up most of the show talking about how he didn't have a lot of show and THERE'S SOOOOO MUCH GOING ON (another shot+slug) and this is how you get a hold of him (slug your beer) and yeah basically it was designed to make fun of the fact that much like you said he spent like 1/2 to 2/3 of the show going through the propers, passive-aggro bitching about how he didnt have any time to talk about WHAT EVERYONE'S BLOWING UP HIS FACEBOOK TALKING ABOUT, and then you get a token call or 2 from the loho ALS (people who are like "holy shit b&b's ending so right when they close their show and go to commercial i'd better be on hold otherwise i wont get on!) commercial come back and once again lament the lack of time to talk about the HUUUUUUUGEEEE STORIES OF THE DAY and then maybe another call if not 2, and then it was time to go and toss it over to chris rongey for white-sox pregame and i'll be back tomorrow for 5-8 minutes of content in a ~20 minute show (when you factor in top of the hour update + ~15-16 to ~20-22 commercial break and then they're off the air by like 27-29 to have more commercials in b4 WHITE SOX BASEBALL)

and yeah it was a thing. and seeing as the cubs are coming over to.... WBBM? well it won't directly affect him as i think the sox are iikely going to stay put, that is unless the score is able to hijack cubs broadcasts from WBBM and send the sox to WIND or something, which wouldn't surprise me if the cubs are a dynasty and the sox are still having their #1 offseason move being a ~10-15mil/yr closer. lord knows good ol FOTStain would LOVE to be the flagship of the cubs so that way he'd have that much more of a chance of getting his mancrush theo on the air. they could all share a chortle and trashtalk the rooftops like you KNOW they all wanna do. they got levine already.... they've got in-house cubs expert amattacola! why not switch the cubs over from WBBM the second the white sox deal runs out (cuz i reckon aside from the fact that a lot of their games overlap jerry prolly woudn't want to share a flagship radio station with the cubs)

Just heard it the other night

{song clip}
List of things he plans to cover on tonight's show
{song clip}
"Got the full A-Team with me tonight"
{song clip}
*Random Bears player acknowledging Larry*
{song clip}
-explanation of what the A-Team is and why they are called that-
{song clip}
Every single "A-Team" member gets a few seconds to introduce themselves and where they went to school, just like Monday Night Football
{song clip}
"I'm spanky......The 'U'" (repeat 8 more times, even the interns get to introduce themselves and their school)
{song clip}
List of things he plans to cover on tonight's show
{song clip}
"I've gotta go to break but coming upright after that...."

Doesn't he do all that. Take a break. Then come back to say good bye during those half hour shows?

Remember the summer of 2007 when they wouldn't bother to program a 30-minute evening show between B&B and Sox pregame, so they'd just let B&B run over and go freeform? That was some fall-in-love-with-the-Score radio. You'd have guys calling up strumming out-of-tune guitars, conversations about completely random crap, I don't know how it happened but they'd go from weird and bad and gay to postmodernly weird and bad and gay.

I seem to remember some of that, but not the out of tune guitars.
Both stations are at their best when they are the least structured. Which is why "transitions" used to be good. Now they've lost their sparkle.
I continue to say that one of the highlights of the week is when Giangreco is on with W&S. He continually goes off topic and is funny, yet still talks sports for the most part.

Yeah, there was some guy who'd call in and sing songs to them on a poorly tuned guitar. I remember it well because it was about the time I discovered Jandek, so it all synced up well.

This is literally true for me. Summer 2007 is when the Score stopped being the station I switched over to when WGKC was doing a Rush triple-play and started being a station I listened to more or less anytime I was near a radio.

if sup holmes wasnt doing sports whore radio he would be a morning news weatherwoman. hes still better than mully and hanely so really the bears should just move him from nights to mornings. but in any case i think charles tilman should cohost.

I do remember when Mitch used to give that half hour between B&B and White Sox to Goff and drinky. They were bad and it ended quickly.

There really is no night time show on the Score for the most part.. Sox in the Spring and Summer. Monday and Thursday Football, Depaul and Illinois in the Fall and winter.

Illinois must be paying good money for that 670 signal. 560's sucks. I wish they had stayed there, though; the Chief Mincing Fratboy dead-enders probably listen to right-wing talk all day.

I think we figured this out before that he is doing approximately 100 shows per year...which is roughly 39% less of how many Rongey does with a part time gig.

365 days in a year
-104 weekend days
-90 days of weeknight baseball
-10 days of vacation
-32 days of MNF/TNF
-20 days of DePaul/Illinois/NIU
-10 holidays

Gets you to 99 full shows. I think I was being generous on the estimate of baseball, vacation and college shows. I also didn't consider other preemptive programming.

+ all those fill-ins, though. He does some Sunday shows during Bears season, too, where he takes calls from people who listened to two hours of Doug & OB and still feel the need to vent.

Oh, I never question his dedication to the station nor his ability to always be free to work. I just find it humorous that his shift is really not a full shift.
