just playing the thief to the bitter end this year He has been out for what, 8 weeks now. He was out for around that amount of time last year. Any semi thoughtful player would have spent some of that time considering his own football mortality and would relish laying some deepness on reporters after the last game for posterity. This fucker was asked for his thoughts and responded that he had nothing. His restuarant abscense encapsulted everything that was wrong with this team. This guy really destroyed his legacy in my mind over the last two years with his lack of dedication. I'd say his future will include being Buffone to Urlacher's Butkus but he is not nearly as lovable as Doug and I imagine we will not see his ass again until he is scrounging for dollars after he blows his nestegg on foolish investments like restaurants not located in the city where you are best known. Shove off Lance, your lack of leadership is astounding. |

From the head down, they stink! |

The balls on this guy! He has showed up to training camp out of shape the last two years. He has missed significant time due to injury the last two years during which he has shown no leadership or coaching to other players. He has made it clear that football is no longer his primary objective. Then I read in yesterday's Sun Times that Briggs doesn't think there is any reason he shouldn't be able to continue playing football and how much the younger guys will miss on his knowledge. Lance, you made your bed. You probably could have gotten a one year contract for next year as a goodbye gift if you had simply been a professional. Now, you can go sell BBQ to vegetarians with whom you have no connection. We'll see you in a few years when only the fond memories of your career remain. |

I felt very similar about Lance the past 2 years, but after hearing what he tried to do in 2014, he was trying to make the best of the situation, but once again controlling this image is something an organization like the Bears need to do. If you shit on players when they walk out the door, you look bad and they look bad. |

Not saying he didn't....I just am not familiar with any. Sayers, Ditka, and Butkus all have countless tales of being first rate asshats to the general public. |

I think in hindsight, they should have dumped Briggs and kept Urlacher though. Briggs has zero leadership skills and that was the teams mistake in thinking that he did. |

Both should have dumped. Urlacher a better leader, but he wanted way too much money and physically couldn't stay on the field. |

However, to your point, they gave him approval to go to his restaurant opening days before opening day. They also let him sleep in meetings with punishment. |

Trestman gave him permission in his hierarchy of leadership fuck job that he was running. No one shit on Lance Briggs.
