They all suck. Hockey and NBA do it sorta right with the skills competition. But the games blow.
Baseball couldn't do it WORSE with the WS HFA on the line. Just awful.

The baseball AS game is by far the best of all of the major sports. Its not even a discussion.

The fact that home field rides on it is indeed terrible, but it doesn't take away from the fact that it is an actual, competitive game where players give real effort year after year.

I'd agree with you if it weren't for the fact that the best players are out of the game by the 5th or 6th inning.

Was baseball better back when home field advantage in the WS alternated?

No

It was the same as it is now...just with a stupid addition to a pointless game.

It'll be better when they give HFA to the team with the best regular season record.

Sometimes the best players aren't the starters who were voted in by the fans.

Yeah, really. One team might play 36 games vs. Colorado and Arizona. Christ on a cracker.

So all the other leagues are unfairly assigning home field advantage (minus, of course, the Super Bowl, knowing that HFA for the playoffs though, is determined by record).

Baseball has two separate leagues with different rules. Regardless, I don't see how you could think it's fair when I have to beat better teams than you do.

It's really not a big deal. Alternating was fine and no one complained. So now your league has to win an exhibition game. It's fine. The best way would probably be to give it to the league with the better interleague record.

Uhhh... so wins isn't a way of determining which team is better? But it is a way of determining which pitcher is better?

Oh, I AM that obtuse.
So wins don't tell you which team is better. Wins do tell you which pitcher is better. I just want to make sure I understand the way you're thinking. I think I got it.

Let's say that next season the NL decided they were going to play a championship series against the Midwest League champion. Should the best record get home field advantage? Or is it clear that the records are unrelated?

That's not a meme.

And your obtuse act in multiple threads makes your claim of being just that a new meme.

completely similar situations... And Sandy is being obtuse...

Having the WS homefield determined by an exhibition game is just stupid.

However, the decide it, it should be based on a large sample size of games from the actual MLB season.

I would like to know how the NFL, NBA and NHL should decide who gets home field since none of them play a balanced schedule.

I don't think that any pro league plays a balanced schedule.

I don't know, but the NFL, NBA, and NHL aren't comprised of two different, separate leagues, each with its own long history and traditions.
