Still haven't started rebuilding the O'Hare escalator yet? (The one destroyed by the conductor who fell asleep.) It took a year to design and will take another year to build? WTF? Did they throw away the old plans? Maybe Chuy should investigate.

I still don't understand why they put an escalator at the end of a train track.

well because if you've ever been to the o'hare station you kind of have to go up to get to the concourse level, or whatever level you wanna call it because IIRC the blue line entrance is kind of far off in a corner of o'hare or whatever... it takes a bit of a sojourn to get there.

no matter the aesthetic/practical merits of having an escalator go up there, it's pretty damn hard to do anything but put this one on the conductor who done goof'd when it came to the whole "stay on the tracks" part of the endeavor.

The concourse to the station is in the basement as it is. The station itself is in the sub-basement.

Me, I give the CTA a shoutout for disproving Mitch Hedberg's adage that an escalator cannot break, it can only become stairs.
