Of course RPB was right when he said they would do something to piss me off. Like addressing a fucking problem that doesn't even exist. I've been going to Sox games for 45 years. I've been reading every Chicago daily almost every day for about 40 years. I have never one single time seen or heard of or read about anyone being stabbed or shot in either Sox Park, let alone anyone trying to bomb the place. So what do these morons do? They install metal detectors at every entrance. It took twenty minutes to get inside. There are only five detectors at each gate and the lines were snaking all around the park yesterday. That won't likely be as much of a problem when they have their usual attendance of 15,000, but it's still a pain in the ass to take out my keys and my phone and toss them on a table with a bunch of other keys and phones that look almost alike. Just wait until some scumbag snatches someone else's new iPhone. The Sox deserve their minimal attendance. The people running the team have no fucking sense. There were many goofs in suits walking around outside surveying this disastrous scene and not one of them had the thought that, "Hey, this is a major fuck-up". A ballgame is supposed to be fun, entertainment, and escape from the everyday world. They've turned it into something worse than walking into the goddamn Daley Center. Congratulations, White Sox! Your shitty stadium ops matches your shitty baseball organization. And Cub fans, laugh away. At least the fucked up bathrooms will be fixed. I don't see the Dumb Sox admitting this mistake. They'll just keep repeating some crap about safety. |

This isn't as much a white Sox thing as it's a society thing.. Welcome to the police state JORR! guilty until proven innocent and by proven I mean the most likes/hashtags. I'm surprised there arent airport/jail scanners everywhere cuz seriously you're a pussy if you don't want your insides getting radioactively lit up a few times a day in the name of "security" Hell I heard about machines where you go into bars and they scan your ID into the system to enter the bar and then when you leave you "check out" the same way. Do we have the British standards of no less than 2 CCTV cameras facing every entrance yet? B4 he left office Daley was crowing about a camera on every street corner (prolly a less ostentatious version of the "blue light specials" in the westside and undoubtedly the southside. Hell I once remember buying dope off a kid who pointed to a chill camera at the end of the block like SEE THAT? THAT'S A DEA CAMERA!!! PRETTY COOL HUH? --- I waved) So yeah man there is no expectation of privacy anymore cuz WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SMUGGLE INTO THE BALLPARK JORR? STOP BEING SELFISH AND PUT OTHER PEOPLE'S SAFETY OVER YOUR INCONVENIENCE! </newthink> |

One thing Joe is correct about on a larger scale is the Sox never admitting mistakes and correcting them, usually it is a defensive stance and a continuation to prove they are doing things right. This can be seen in dog day, robin ventura, Garpax and it all comes from one man, who has made billions doing things his own way despite others thoughts. |

Apparently the metal detectors are an MLB directive. Well, I'll say this- it's misguided as fuck. Listen, I'm a damn diehard baseball fan, an old guy in a shrinking demographic, and I'm considering going to way less games because of this bullshit. You can imagine that the guy who goes to one or two games and has to decide where to spend his limited entertainment buck might just say, "Fuck this. It's too much of a headache." In many cases he was doing that before they even implemented this policy. I really don't think that any marketing guy worth an ounce could possibly say that the first interaction we want to have with our customers is to have a surly off-duty cop giving him orders to spread his legs and put his arms out. Yeah, I'm real excited about returning often to experience that! |

Bears have been doing this for years. They should put the detectors at the entry point for the lower deck. |

Of course, there were about half as many people there too. There was nobody "guarding" the 100 level. Maybe someone had enough sense to realize it was a bad idea to check the tickets one additional time after you just put your fans through an experience equivalent to getting on a commercial airliner. I may be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure the Cubs had metal detectors at the Clark/Addison entrance last year. The way they set it up, I hardly even noticed. |
