Got the pleasure of watching the top of the 6th inning of the Sox game today. Nathan Karns threw a strikeout and here comes the same old speech about GENEROUS strike zones and umps having a plane to catch, blah blah, the guy struck out 8 batters...and of course Beckham, 'couldnt believe that called strike!" We know its an old story with Hawk.... now, I didnt watch any further, but I knew that Sale had 9 K's going into the next inning. Did all his K's come as a result of the same thing? Or are the umps having those secret meetings again, giving the Rays the large strike zone? but not the Sox? In the effort to be some savior of them team (Which the team doesnt want) he just takes away from the efforts of is own teams pitcher that is on an amazing hot streak, by claiming the strike zone is very GENEROUS... |

I'm not a big fan of Hawk's PBP/announcing work, especially his use of stock phrases over and over again. |

The best thing about watching the game on TV is that I can see for myself what happened. I don't need HAWK to tell me what I saw. I'm so sick of the tired bashing of the guy. He's an old man. He's not going to wake up tomorrow and become an advanced stats guy. He's going to cling to his past with all of his stories, and he's going to be the biggest homer in baseball. I could care less if they replaced him or kept him, baseball isn't that difficult to figure out. My issue is that what dumb things HAWK says becomes the Score's baseball coverage of the White Sox, particularly on the afternoon show. That's old and tired, just like HAWK. |

Certainly watching 1/3 of an inning gives people all the reason to criticize the old man. I was flipping to the Sox during the hockey commercials and intermissions, and Hawk was ripping them pretty good. Said that outside of about 15 games, "we couldn't play any worse" and that "we are lucky to have as many wins as we do." He is 100% correct. |

You mean the guy who the owner had to talk to about ripping umpires and had to explain to him it doesn't help the team? Yeah...one third of an inning is enough to see the idiot didn't understand ripping umps doesn't help the team.... |
