CHICAGO — Even though it may seem it's been raining a lot in Chicago lately, the city is only seeing a little more rain than usual so far this month, according to the National Weather Service.

Since the beginning of the month, Chicago has seen 1.8 inches of rainfall. That's compared to 1.68 inches of rainfall, which is what the city typically sees by this time in June, according to Andrew Krein, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

"It's not anomalously high," Krein said.

In fact, he said we're on track for a pretty average month, seeing as 3.63 inches of rainfall is the average for the whole month and we're at the halfway point.

Other counties across the state like Grundy County haven't been so lucky.

"A couple of days ago we tracked strong storms from Peru to Morris that dumped a whole lot of rain," Krein said. "On that same day, O'Hare didn't receive nearly as much."

Oh, and the old saying, "April showers brings May flowers," is a little misleading in Chicago.

Chicago typically sees 3.68 inches of rainfall in April, 3.38 inches of rainfall in May and 3.63 inches of rainfall in June, Krein said.

In other words, April and June are usually equally rainy.

So, two months of rain-free summer days? Nope.

Out of the summer months, we get the most rainfall in August, Krein said. Chicago typically sees 4.61 inches of rainfall in August.

The rain is good ..with climate change brings more severe weather..it will be a bad drought soon..we need it .

Tropical Storm Bill is making landfall in Texas today. The dominant high pressure in the southern states will steer the remnants our way late this week.
