At the time of his arrest, Richardson was driving with two other adults and a 12-year-old child. He was charged with resisting arrest along with "exceeding the speed limit, following too closely, failing to use lights and failing to obey a traffic signal." A resisting arrest conviction carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

Pretty fast. Especially with a child.

On July 3, word emerged that Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson would miss the first four games of the 2015 regular season due to violations of the substance-abuse policy. Eleven days later, it didn’t get much better.

Via FOX 2 in St. Louis, Richardson was arrested on July 14 in Missouri for street racing and resisting arrest.

“The vehicles were clocked on radar three times at speeds of 122, 135, and 143 miles per hour,” per the report.

Richardson’s vehicle, a 2014 Bentley Silver Spur, allegedly increased its speed to avoid the police, running through a traffic signal and turning off the lights. The driver then turned into the driveway of a home to avoid detection.

Richardson turned out to be the driver. Two other men and a 12-year-old child was in the car. So was a fully-loaded handgun and the odor of marijuana.

What would be wrong with making manufacturers limit cars to 85 or 100 mph? (i.e., require a restrictor/governor). Would that be un-American?

Bill Cosby has done a lot of good things in his life. I'm appreciative of how much the Cosby show helped changed the hearts and minds of a lot of people and ultimately made my life a little easier. Same with Martin Luther King. That doesn't stop me from pointing out that both are/were pieces of shit. It also doesn't mean that I think all influential black people are/were pieces of shit. That's why I don't think it is such a daunting task to acknowledge that some cops are assholes who frequently abuse their power and still appreciate the great work and sacrifice of most cops.
