complaining that people in Chicago are judging his film CHIRAQ based on a 2:30 trailer!!!!!!! You mean the same Trailer that You made to get people to JUDGE whether or not they want to see the film????? The point of the trailer is to show people what you have and then they determine if they want to see it.....oh, and PAY to see it or not Conisdering Spike is just doing this to help and have the discussion, then I assume the film will be FREE to see???? |

I don't get what Chicago people are bitching about. Murders are committed on the South side. You get shot there. More so than in any other city. He's making a movie about those murders. So what? He's trying to make money. That's the purpose of making movies. Will it send a message? Will it make a difference? No. But that's what Spike Lee has to say to sell his movie. CNN did a doc on it. I watched it. Then the next day somebody was shot dead. Then 3 days later somebody else was shot dead. Then the next week a kid was shot dead. So that Doc didn't help. Spike Lee movie or not, the murders will continue. Dan Bernstein: WHY. DON'T. THEY. JUST. MOVE? Spike Lee: Right on, brother!!!! That's the answer. |

That's the answer. It has NOTHING to do with the murders that are at historic lows. |

I did read where a bunch of cops were suspended for "improperly" accessing the police report about Rahms pothead sons "mugging". |

emergency medical care is way better than it was 20-30 years ago too. Bro, cool story dept.: Ran into a firefighter at a park in Oak Park. He was excercising the firehouse rotweiler there since it was too dangerous in the city. said three guys came into the firehouse yesterday with gunshot wounds. |

Violent crime across the board has decreased during the past 25 yrs. Even accounting for advances in medicine there is a significant decrease. They reported a 75% decrease in violent crime. The major advancement has occurred in the area of mass media. There are far more sources of information these days. This contributes greatly to the perception that crime is at an epidemic level. |

I find it ironic the #1 enemy of the police on this board totally believes their self-reported crime statistics. http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magaz ... ime-stats/ |

Instead of murder, why dont we use number of gunshot (not necessarily murder) victims? That would eliminate the medical part |

rogers park bryan wrote: Instead of murder, why dont we use number of gunshot (not necessarily murder) victims? That would eliminate the medical part Channel 2 report factored that in also. 1990 there were 40,000 violent crimes committed. Number was reduced to 10,000 by 2013. |

If the city is lying about the numbers today (despite all the independent organizations tracking these things) when there are only about 400 murders, why wouldn't they have been lying in the 90's when there was about 1000? |
