As is my yearly tradition I recorded all 8 high school football games this weekend. Hoping to see some good close games, but instead I was treated to 7 blowouts. Winning teams outscored the losers 332-103 for the weekend. Only one game was decided by less than 2 TDs and that game wasn't even that close in the second half. I did enjoy watching some of the performances by the winners. Watching Phillips dominate was fun, loved watching the Nazareth RB go crazy including setting the record for longest TD run in a state championship game (96 yards). Was impressed with the RB for Glenbard going off vs Libertyville. And of course Loyola looked like men vs boys in their game. Hopefully the State champ Bball games next spring are a better showing. |

Im not an avid fan like Scorehead but it was a weird year where Joliet Catholic, Providence, Mt Carmel and Lincolnway were all out of the title hunt. So you gotta a bunch of also rans. Marist was 5-4 in the regular season. Just had a good offense play well in a few games. |

curious how the change in venue was. Seems like NIU was a more convenient location and appropriately sized for this than UofI. |

Crete put up a good fight vs Montini and ended Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin's Three year winning streak in the quarters. |

There was no stopping that kid from Glenbard West...he ran for nearly 300yds in the previous game followed by over 260 in the state championship with 4 TDs. The kid's a stud. Vanderbilt bound. Good showing by Libertyville...where a number of friends had kids playing. ...and that's the extent of my prep football posting |

Rumor has it that he's 6'0" 210, runs a 4.4 and can bench 400 lbs. So he's probably 5'10 210 runs a 4.6 and benches 315 but it's hard to imagine a better player in the state. Plus, he can apparently do this. https://vine.co/v/eKxUU6PdZzb/embed/simple |

The IHSA championship games were all terrible and very disapointing except for GW vs Libertyville. As is the case in all sports, the playoffs are always better than the championship game. |

I figured they would make playoffs. But make the title game with a 5-4 record. No way. |

Reading that post made me feel genuinely sad for you..and I don't come here for that! |
