We talked about this at work yesterday, oddly enough. I am sure I have not used a snooze button five times in my life. Most coworkers do so five times virtually every day.

I get using it once, maybe...the whole psychological thing of just getting a few more minutes of sleep...but yeah, after snooze number three, I'm ready to start throwing devices in the Blendtec.

I'm so lazy, I have a button to hit the snooze button.

Snooze buttons are for lazy,weak, bags of shit who are always late. Wake the fuck up. Getting woken by an alarm already once sucks, why would you want to do that 3 more times?

I have no idea if I have one or not. It would never even occur to me to use it. You sleep until either you wake up or it is time to get up. Why is that so hard?

Alarms go off when you're supposed to get up. The snooze button is for when you have to get up.

Its not meant to be used over and over. Its good because the jolt of the alarm sometimes makes you want to slap it quiet and if you happen to fall back asleep it saves you.


But yes ideally, as Al Brazen used to say, "if you don't tax the body you don't need an alarm to wake up". I tax the body (i.e. getting less than 7 hours sleep consistently)

This thought reminds me of Nigel Tufnel talking about his amp going to 11. Why not just set your alarm for a later time so that you're not interrupted by an alarm going off when you know you're going to hit snooze anyway?

why would you want to be woken up five minutes before you need to be woken up?

Because waking up is a two pronged process. The initial jolt out of deep sleep...then actually getting up.

I wish everyone subscribed to this ideology.

Well, sometimes you wake up and you feel just fine. Other times, you still feel too tired and want to extend it a little bit.

So, you trade 5 minutes of laying there for a shorter shower or eating your breakfast in the car.

I mean, in an ideal world, you'd never use it, put your morning routine in the most efficient way possible, and leave the house 15 minutes after you get up. That doesn't happen.

Mark me in the never used a snooze button column. I could fall out of bed and do brain surgery if I knew how to do brain surgery.

This was part of my Christmas package. The light gradually gets brighter starting 30 minutes before your wake-up time. Then the alarm goes. Also has snooze function.
