I know Bernstein likes to beat topics into the ground but Rozner takes his little pet jokes and hangs onto them like a starving baby gripping a tit. He spent 15 minutes starting yesterday's show talking about "The Plan" and how there are many Cub fans out there that don't understand The Plan and those that don't think it's working. Who the hell wants to talk about that crap still (besides people here)? There's actual baseball to talk about. He still makes McGowan jokes. Has he only made 3 jokes in his life that he needs to clutch these few so tightly? Apollo Creed let things go faster than this. |

Yes yes yes. He has written that "Plan" article no less than a dozen times. He also says we don't understand that Crawford is a good goalie. |

He's awful for the reasons you listed and much more. I don't understand the people who want to pair him with Bernstein just because he "stands up to him" or whatever. That says a lot about both the standards at the station and the listeners themselves if that's all it takes. |

I want them together so I never have to hear Rozner again. I hate that he fills in shows. He is terrible on hit n run. What a bad combo for what should be an awesome show. |

Does he still do the "Oh no, the Vancouver people on Twitter are mad at me again." stuff? |

First of all, the point was never whether "The Plan" would or wouldn't work. It's that losing on purpose should be distasteful to any fan of competitive sport. Also, he's not a Hawks fan but he enjoys trolling Canucks fans like some teenager who just crawled off of 4chan. |

Tad Queasy wrote: Does he still do the "Oh no, the Vancouver people on Twitter are mad at me again." stuff? He hasn't written about that in a long time. He reminds you in every column that he is right and fans are idiots. He tries to deflect the arrogance of his writing by making self deprecating comments. However, you can only write, "you heard it here first" so many times before the reader concludes that you're a know it all. |

Being told by Rozner or Bernstein that The Plan was justified simply because "they told you what they were going to do" is annoying. Unfortunately, it appears that more and more teams are trying their own similar "Plans" -- so you have a bunch of horrid, noncompetitive teams. |

The Mc Cown thing is the one that makes me want to reach through the radio and politely tell that mon chi chi to stop. Mc Cown had a great run with the Bears. He isn't a great QB but he was good for about 8 games and Rozner just wanted to piss on him in the middle of the run instead of enjoying it. That was years ago and Mc Cown has made $10 million more as an NFL QB while Rozner rehashes the same lame joke. |

Post subject: | Re: Barry Rozner |
I do not. As my posting history shows, I was completely on board with what the Cubs did. However, many advocated a dual track of trying to win while drafting, scouting and developing young players. My concern with that was that the young players would have been blocked from learning at the major league level by highly paid veterans. I felt a clean break from the past was the best path forward. I didn't mind the losing on purpose only because it was well communicated and a nice change from the Hendry spend-a-thon. If you do the rebuild properly, you set yourself up for potentially a decade or more of success. You didn't have to lose to get there. But if you are truly trying to win in the first year, then you are tempted to trade young players at the deadline because you are trying to go for it every year. |

If such is rewarded the league needs to make changes so that it is not. |

Joe Orr Road Rod wrote: I don't think any team should ever try to lose on purpose. If such is rewarded the league needs to make changes so that it is not. It's quite something to compare last year's NHL standings, when several teams were in a derby for two elite rookies, with this year's, where the consensus #1 pick is pretty damn good but not necessarily life-changing like McDavid and Eichel were. Also, the NHL did make changes, putting the first three picks in the lottery instead of just the top pick, and flattening the odds even more than the NBA's. The Sabres not only had an amazingly low (for the point-inflation era) 54 points but a scoring differential of -116, which is inconceivable unless you're a ransacked WHA "expansion" team or just actively trying to lose. The Coyotes were right behind with 56 and -102. Then with everyone fluffing up their records, you had Boston missing the playoffs at 96 points and Los Angeles missing at 95. We're back to sanity now, or as sane as this dumbfuck league ever gets, with mediocre teams rounding out the playoff field and no one but Vancouver allowing 50 more than they scored. |

No kidding. Jesus Chirst. Enough with this "The plan sucks" bit. He's doing it now. The son of a bitch thinks it's funny every time he says it. IT CEASED BEING FUNNY A LONG TIME AGO, BARRY. If it ever was funny. |

His constant slurping of Cubs is certainly annoying, too. When he has a guest on, his only Cubs question is "What's the over/under on hits given up by Arrieta today?" paired with constant comments about how the Cubs are basically guaranteed a victory when he pitches. For the supposed big baseball fans they are, he and Bernstein don't realize that baseball is a weird game and anything can happen. Even if it weren't, Arietta would hit a rough patch at some point this year. To act as though any game is a foregone conclusion is moronic. |
