So, my building is having its roof replaced. On one of those really windy days a huge piece of sheet metal came flying off the roof and banged up my wife's car. Nothing really serious, but I expect them to pay for the damage. We contacted building management and they shoved us off to the roofer directly. The roofer asked that we take the car for an estimate at a particular place in the city. That slightly annoyed me because its location is not convenient for me, but I took it there. They gave me an estimate of about $2,400. I then took the car to a guy right down the street from me who has done work for me before. His estimate came in at around $2,800. My wife sent him both estimates and said we were going to take the car to our guy, but we didn't want to argue about the extra $400 so he could just give us a check for $2,400 and we would worry about the difference ourselves. I think I've been pretty reasonable so far, no? Anyway, this guy emails back that it looks like the estimates include repairs for damages not caused by his sheet metal. First, I don't know how the fuck he would know that. Second, I specifically told both guys which dents were already on the car. He wants me to meet with his supervisor so he can "inspect" the car. I feel like he's jerking me off. I'm going to jump through this one final hoop and if I'm not satisfied, I'm going to file suit against the association, the management company, and the roofer and let all of them figure it out. I didn't ask this asshole to leave loose sheet metal on the roof. Also, if this isn't resolved to my satisfaction, I will be revealing the name of the company here as well as on Yelp! and Angie's List. I'm not sure what his game is. Is it really worth it for him to try to beat me up for a couple hundred bucks? Especially when I'm agreeable to his guy's estimate. |

That's complete horseshit but you deserve it because you troll Cubs fans. I side with the roofing company. You learned about karma, now the choice is your's as to whether you will become a better man or not. Good luck, JORR. |

Best of luck. People suck. I had an issue with a roofer about 27 years ago. He threatened to kick my ass over the phone. I said "fine come on over". End result was,we both had the same insurance company and I got a check for damages done. |

Let your insurance company take over and let them subrogate those other Caller Bobs. |

if the roofer is taking this much interest in a $2400 claim their business must not be a very good one. I mean pretty any real body damage and you start at $1500 and go up from there |
