Fight night at Chicago Symphony Orchestra: Spectators scuffle during showThe sophisticated atmosphere of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra turned less civil Thursday night when two men got into an argument about a reserved box seat at Orchestra Hall, officials said.
About 9 p.m., during a performance of Brahms Symphony No. 2, the argument escalated into a fistfight after a man, described as being in his 30s, became enraged and started beating a 67-year-old patron on his head, said Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.
The attacker fled on foot, and the police and paramedics were called to the scene.
The 67-year-old man refused treatment and the attacker has not been found, Perez said.
All the while, the concert went on. Though patrons said Music Director Riccardo Muti gave the two men a sharp, irritated look before continuing on with the third movement.
