Anyone else like these guys? I just got into them and downloaded the El Camino album and am very impressed. Its really good.

For anyone who has been a fan for a while, should I go back and get their previous albums as well? How do those stack up?

El Camino is probably their worst album. I'm not really a fan of their first album either, so I'm not being a music snob here. Everything in the middle is the goods.

I think I have 6 or 7 of their albums. The last one ( the one you got ) was ok but they have better.
If I were you I would buy their album "Brothers". That is their best in my opinion. If you like that
then dig further back into their catalog. "Attack and Release" and "Rubber Factory" are both pretty
good. If you can find "Chulahoma" that is some pretty damn good blues music. I'd be happy to
burn it for you and mail it down if you really want it. I am sure others will have their opinions.
Almost sad to see these guys get so popular.

That's a good sign cause I really like El Camino. Which album would you recommend I download next?

I had no idea they had so many albums. I'll check out Brothers next and I might just take you up on that offer to burn that other album. thanks.

I really liked Brothers, which is very similar in style to El Camino. I just felt like El Camino was songs that were left off Brothers because they weren't good enough. T-Bone is right on about Chulahoma, it's a great EP, and features some great Blues work. My other favorites of their's would probably be Magic Potion and Thickfreakness. Thickfreakness is probably my favorite song of their's also.

Agree completely DB. I think I started a thread when El Camino came out. I listened through it 10-15 times and it's just...fine.

Brothers is definitely their best album.

Black Keys is definitely one of my favorite bands of this new era style of music, if you will. Did anyone else get to go see them when they played at the United Center a few weeks back?

Thickfreakness is great, Brothers is phenomenal. Everlasting Light might be my favorite song of all time.

I think that was for "Everlasting Light" being the best song of all time.
I would echo crosscheck's gut feeling on that one.

They're pretty good, IMO, but I'll be damned if they aren't on the Adam Levine path to over exposure. They could stand a few months off.

I agree. They could definitely use a break. Dan Auerbach's solo album that he did a couple years back was very solid. I was hoping he was going to do another one after Brothers, but then El Camino came out of nowhere.

I missed the puking guy reference. I have to agree they are probably a bit overexposed at this point.
When Mac's show is using them for intro's that is bad. He doesn't even know the difference between
Metallica and Iron Maiden.... that is bad.

The hell you did! I just don't like them. I loved "Strange Times" so I bought Attack and Release... I didn't like any other song on that record. I'm not exaggerating. There isn't one song that other than "Strange Times" that I ever want to hear again. Such a disappointment. And when I hear their other popular songs, it just doesn't grab my attention.

I am disappointed, I thought this would be about Brittany Payton.

I'm surprised shakes likes something with the word "black" in its name.
