I simultaneously love and hate "Love the One You're With" by Stephen Stills.

The message of the song is abhorrent. The refrain is basically imploring its listener to cheat or to settle, both of which are awful ideas. Inasmuch as Stephen Stills is not Randy Newman, it's hard to buy him as an unreliable narrator, making a pointed commentary on the ultimate folly of Free Love in which loving the one is with leads to heartbreak and/or venereal disease. The lyric about the eagle flying with the dove could have come out of the Hippy-Dippy Folk-Rock Lyric Generator.

And yet, sonically, so good.

I'll cosign this. The Isley Brothers version is one of my favorite songs.

Others:

Genesis, "Invisible Touch"
Heart, "These Dreams"
.38 Special, "Caught Up In You"
Lucifer's Friend, "Ride the Sky"
Like 60% of Lady Gaga's catalog

Mentioned before, but when I lived in Rockford from 96-99, there were no "Urban" stations as it was about 25 miles outside of WGCI's range, so the only Top 40 type of station in the area was 97 ZOK, so a lot of popular songs from that time frame are in my mp3 list.

Nowadays, I like just about anything that 2 Chainz does.

I know Bob Stinson is gone, but a full fledged Replacements reunion is like the only reunion out there still that hasn't happened ,aside from the Smiths

LIked the two first albums but the third one was really bad. I saw them a few months back and the show was terrible. It was the third show I had been to and I might not see another one it was so depressing.

Yeah, I didn't pick up the most recent release. I heard some songs off it and wasn't impressed.
Still like the earlier work enough to call her a favorite of mine from the female persuasion.

Something must have been going on in her personal life. It was so depressing.

I like all the Westerberg solo stuff except Suicaine Gratifaction and even that has some moments. I'd rather not see a reunion. Sometimes it's best to leave the past in the past.

I don't go around telling people that I enjoy the work of Slayer & Marilyn Manson. Ditto Journey & Rush.

Agreed, but "I touch Myself" by the Divinyls

And not just for the sexual nature of the song. The song itself....rocks

Quote:
DY: Is Stephen Stills still alive? Do you know?
AVC: He is. He’s 68 years old.
DY: Well, I’m going to choke the life out of him before he reaches 69.
AVC: Why is this the song you picked out of all songs that exist?
DY: It was really difficult for me because I’m not very hateful. Finding something that I hated was really difficult. The only thing that I really hate is stupidity, and this song is pretty fucking stupid.
I’m not completely naïve, and I understand that infidelity can happen or one-night stands or flings or whatever; that’s not unnatural. But the attitude, from the get-go, that if you can’t be with the person that you care about the most and that you love, you should go ahead and fuck whoever is there is completely repugnant.
I think Stephen Stills should be tortured to death.
