My god man. Wow.

I... I think I might... love you.
   Was Waters considered the frontman in Floyd? Id say it was definitely more Gilmour out in front.

Waters was a an original founder. Gilmour was not.
Waters and syd were the frontmen, and waters was basically the frontman and gilmour was a co-lead vocalist.
You could call waters a frontman.

Elvis, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Johnny Cash are better musically than most of who have been mentioned.

It's rather vague on what the greatest frontman in this thread is supposed to do or be. Are we saying best singer on album, best live singer, best songwriter, best stage presence, longevity, etc.?

Iggy is the conversation.

Probably not the best, but Jeffrey Lee Pierce and Steve Marriott are among the most underrated.

Again without the personas of Plant and Daltrey thru the 70's, you never would have had DLR.

So what? We did get DLR and his flame burned bright and he was awesome. Just because there were some prototypes that came before doesn't detract from his total awesomeness.

I also second Dickinson for being in the team photo as well as Ozzy for a time (his solo stuff), Bono, Axl, Daltery, Plant, Jagger.

Do we put Joey Ramone and Sid in there, as well?

Exactly. The fact that he was aping Jim Dandy didn't make me like Dave any less.

He was definitely aping Jim Dandy, but he took it to greater heights. Jim Dandy knows it and Roth knows it and we know it.

I didn't see Jim Dandy doing split kicks off of any 10 foot drum risers, did you?

I never said DLR wasn't awesome. He was.

Just pointing out that it was partly because of his predecessors that allowed him to be so awesome.

Ok, gotcha. I thought you meant that because Daltry and Plant laid part of the foundation that they were better frontmen.

I would say that DLR was the better frontman on stage, while Plant was the better frontman offstage...at least thru about 1975

I could be wrong, but weren't Syd and David childhood friends, and Syd taught David how to play guitar?

Yeah, syd and David were childhood friends. Gimour learned to play guitar thru a Seeger book, though. They did practice together for a bit.
