Royce 5'9" ghost-wrote that for Dre.

I know Dre doesn't write his own music. I thought Jay-Z wrote that and a few others on that album.

I like what was said but I didn't think it fit that song. Poetry in a rap song like that sounds terrible. It threw the entire rhythm of the song off. It would have been better without that.

wow, how did it take three pages to get this one? when i read the premise of this thread that song was the first one that came to mind... good ol c-brown did his thing better than all the tribe homos yet when you listen to that song you're just waiting for that last verse to come in and kick everything else's ass.

for the backpacker minority among, well, me.... i'll offer up haiku d'etat feat quannum - top qualified

everyone there wanted to outshine each other. aceyalone's first verse is excellent, i mean, it's why he's kind of the best at what he does. the other guys are all pretty good, i think lyrics born is all fine and good... but then at the end, shit, gift of gab (blackalicious) just comes out and annihilates it. it's a style that he had used on a little odd 12" called "just what can happen" (which only ended up on his supreme lyricism vol 1 mixtape) and like, shit.... i mean shit. i can understand the merits of preferring rap that is more straightforward and outwardly comprehendable and thus gives you the ability to rap along with and all that, but really, i mean.... that's some shit. i wish i could do that.

* goes out to have a cigarette *

on balance, it makes up for the horrible myka nine gimmick verse right b4 it.

Kanye just admitted this one

One of my biggest Achilles heels has been my ego. And if I, Kanye West, the very person, can remove my ego, I think there's hope for everyone.

One of the most memorable things about MBDTF was Nicki Minaj, and the fact that she kicked my ass, on my own song, on one of the best albums… the best album – I'm just saying what the critics said – of the last 25 years. The best album of the past 25 years that I spent a year and a half making, out there. I was exiled from my country, it was a personal exile, but exile. To come back and deliver my magnum opus of a work, and to be outshined…to be beat by a girl, basically.

"This was necessary. I think it was one of the most important points of working on that album, was to not stop her from her moment because of how good she is.

I used to feel Cam also killed Kanye on Gone but the last verse he kind of wins it back. Banks wrecked him on Christian Dior Denim Flow though.

She killed that track. Devil in a Blue Dress Rick Ross killed. Kanye walkways gets killed by his guests. Simple fact. Jay has killed him always. My favorite is Ghostface on New God Flow. Destroyed everyone on the track and that whole album.

If not mentioned My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Kanye's verse in New God Flow s great though, that's just a great song. No shame in getting bodied by GFK

But yeah he gets bested on his own stuff a lot...partially by design

Rick Ross sucks, I can't endorse anything he does

To his credit, Kanye seems to be one of the only rappers who will admit it (Monster, Diamonds)

Drake is the new Jay Z, btw. Popular, competent rap without too much substance. Too much substance doesnt = radio play/itunes love etc. See Nas.
