Anyone else a fan of this guy? I just "discovered" him a few weeks ago, now own both albums. His second album, Metamodern Sounds in Country Music is sensational!

He's very unique, not your typical cookie cutter country singer.

Nice Jorr, do you have any idea what the turtles mean? My wife and I can't figure it out from the lyrics to that song.

Yeah, the concepts of the "World Turtle" and the "World Elephant" are ancient Indian philosophies. The idea is that the world is balanced on the back of an elephant, i.e. the World Elephant, which raises the question, "What is the elephant standing on?" And the answer is that he is standing on the back of a turtle, i.e. the World Turtle, which, of course, raises the question, "What is the turtle standing on?" And the answer is, "It's turtles all the way down."

sweet, thanks for the explanation. I had no idea.

So is the point of the lyrics in the song that the world is a precarious place teetering on the backs of more and more turtles or am I missing the point? I have a feeling its not as simple as that.

I kind of take it as him saying all religion is bullshit so you should worry about the way you treat people in this life.

Ahh, that makes sense. He states in the song that all he needs to get by is love. So it makes sense that he is talking about the turtles all the way down as if he is mocking the concept.
