Came out not long after my dad died. It's always brought the tears.

Just like the scene from Princess Bride, "you killed my father...prepare to die."

The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics came out a little before my dad died and I still well up a bit when I hear it. I was a teen so we didnt really see eye to eye at the time.

Another good one.

I’d still argue that conclusion in that song is wrong. His kid chose to stay home with his kids. Sure he ignores his dad but he seems to care about his kids.

Well… the song wasn’t an accurate representation of my childhood so I feel pretty rotten about singing it with my dad in attendance.

I remember making my parents watch The Breakfast Club because I thought it was a great movie. I watch it now and the disdain for their parents seems much worse than I perceived at the time.

I was commiserating with this girl from Missouri on Snap Chat the other day. Her dad is her basketball coach. Some asshole named RFDC. He reminded me a lot of my dad.

"Andrew! You've got to be number one! I won't tolerate any losers in this family! Your intensity is for shit! Win! Win! Win!' You son of a bitch."

You know, sometimes I wish my knee would give. And I wouldn't be able to wrestle anymore. And he could forget all about me.

"Keep Me In Your Heat" - Warren Zevon. The fact that he wrote it knowing he was dying really make the lyrics hit home.

"Memories" by Maroon 5 is a modern one that choked me up when I heard it.

I was just talking with my wife the other night about how our 7th grade music teacher used to have us sing the theme to MASH.

Yes, it has words.

Suicide is Painless.

It brings on many changes and I can take or leave it if I please.

I still remember the lyrics.

What kind of sick, twisted music teacher has 13 year-olds sing about suicide?

The lyrics were written by the 14 year old son of Robert Altman, the director of the film.

yeah, I was surprised when I heard the song in the movie vs the theme to the show. In our case it was a song picked by the class, I was no involved because I cared not and really wasn't interested in being there at all but whatever. Apparently some kids at the school had some parental issues to deal with. This should come as no surprise. I am a little stunned the faculty person or persons in charge didn't nix it.

Landslide seems like a sad song. I'm not even sure what its about but Nicks' vocal is so emotive it seems like a sad one to me.

The only songs that make me sad are ones that take me back and remind me of friends I lost. There are a couple of songs that if they come on I have to turn it off and they aren't sad songs at all.

Didn't Charlie Rich sing that one? The one where the most beautiful girl in the world walks out on him makes me cry more.
