The Live ‘75 - ‘85 version of Cadillac Ranch absolutely kills.

Also, the extended live version of “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out” from the Live in New York City video is a must-watch epitome of the lost art of rock and roll showmanship.

My favorite Bruce era would be 80-82. Independence Day, The River, Point Blank, Nebraska, Highway Patrolman, etc. I guess you can say that I prefer the stuff that’s darkly soulful, I wouldn’t know how else to describe my tastes when it comes to Bruce. It seems like all of the die hard fans commonly agree that he peaked in the mid-to-late 70s. That may be so, but I hold a strong preference for that early 80s period.

As far as unheralded tracks go, One Step Up from the Tunnel Of Live LP is worth mentioning. Once again, it has more of a haunting vibe, which is Bruce’s area of excellence IMO.

I know what you mean, that darkness is why I love "Lost in the Flood" and "The Fever" so much.

That song is so depressing that I almost can’t listen to it, but you are absolutely correct.

Well, maybe if you listen to some, you could test your theory.
