One thing I have to say I’m a little annoyed about is the chatter from the “djs” seems a bit much now. Yes commercial free but your cute story doesn’t need to be three minutes.

you might be catching 1st wave at the wrong time, TM. i've heard old school TMBG ("Don't Let's Start"), stuff from Kerplunk! from Green Day (which is kinda weird), and even the Chameleons which is pretty hard to find on any radio station. i've also heard some old XTC too.

they do play way too much cure and typical new wave stuff but there are some nice playlists from time to time.

lithium has really gotten stale to me. seems like every 6 songs in, they have to fuck everything up with either "come as you are" or any red hot chili peppers song, or the usual rage bullshit.

i've really gotten into the radio classics station lately.

You're probably right about First Wave. It seems like they've broadened their playlist in the past couple months. While still flawed, the channel is less repetitive than it once was.

I can only listen to Lithium for a few minutes before I need some lithium.

Yeah, Jenny LSQ on the alternative stations really needs to have her chattiness curbed. Less talk, more rock.

My presets are: 80’s, Buffett, Coffeehouse, Outlaw Country, Broadway Channel, Stern.

That said, I think the best thing about SXM are all of the live sports options. You can always get the home broadcast and if you are busy, you aren’t tied to the tube to catch your team.

I reflexively yell “shut up, Meg!” anytime I hear Meg Griffin on the Spectrum.

I listen to Shade 45, Pearl Jam, Old School R&B (50), and Barstool.

As an aside I am considering dropping SiriusXM and just going with streaming Apple Music in the car.

It occurred to me today that Sirius simply doesn't play enough Vampire Weekend. They need to look into that.

My newest complaint is the overdoing of the live, remixed, not mixed or other alternative versions of songs. Occasionally you get something that is good. But please keep it all in small doses. At least on the more classic type rock channels it seems like a programming kid got a new toy.

Been hearing some on XMU lately. Good station. way better than Alt Nation.

I've caught a few of Tom Morello's "One Man Revolution" shows on Lithium over the past month. Not really a fan. About 75% of the music he plays is stuff he performs on. What kind of musician would want to do a show like that? If you want to play some unreleased track or some deep cut once in awhile on the show, fine. But it's got to take a ton of ego to play your own music for an entire hour.

 I was joking. Vampire Weekend has to be the most frequently played group on the alternative/college stations. And it's the same two or three songs over and over and over....

It may be more than 2 or 3 songs...but all Vampire Weekend songs sound the same.

They pretty much do outside of Modern Vampires of the City, which is a really good album.

No. was only a Bowie takeover for the weekend I guess.

With no baseball, and XM 48 going in a direction musically that I don't particularly like, I've been listening to a fair amount of CBC Country.

I did my annual call to Sirius/XM to "cancel" my subscription because I don't want to pay the new rate, and then the offer me the same rate as last year. I'll be damned if they don't have this as voice prompt option now. They just count on people not paying attention.

I've recently started using the listen on-line option. It's pretty cool because you can see what song is playing on each channel and when you click to a new channel the song starts at the beginning.

I just bought a new Pioneer stereo with Carplay and HD Radio to replace my factory stereo in my 180,000 mile Camry. I called SiriusXM to have them activate their service with the radio ID. I gave them my name, account info, etc.

The lady claimed to be named Jennifer or Brittany with a thick Indian accent. She first asked me if I wanted to upgrade to a higher-tier package including Howard Stern and MLB/NFL games. I told her no thanks, I don't care for Howard Stern and I don't like sports. She said, "Okay, do you have your radio ID ready? Please read it to me." I read back the ID. She said thank you and told me, "I am now going to sign you up for a new subscription for $5.99 a month for 12 months. Is the same card on the account." I interrupted, "Hang on, hang on, excuse me, I don't need a new subscription, I already have one."

"Sir, you want to play satellite radio in your car right? In order to add your new car radio to play Sirius, we need to do a new subscription."

"Mam, I already have a Sirius subscription. I paid upfront back in January of this year. It was a full one year subscription and will expire in 3 months. It includes access to Sirius on my phone or iPad as well as a car stereo. Now I have a stereo and want to add my service that I paid for to it."

"I know, I know. But in order to get Sirius on you car stereo, we need to sign you up for a new subscription."

"You seem nice but there's obviously a communication problem going on here. What you're saying makes no sense. I signed up for SiriusXM in January. I paid $75 or so for a full year of service, comes out to about $5 a month. It includes playing Sirius on my phone and in my car. I simply want to hear satellite radio in my car, something that I already pay for."

"What is your radio ID sir?"

"I already gave you that but I'll give it to you again."

"Thank you very much. Too add SiriusXM to your car stereo, there is a one-time fee of $15."

"I'm sorry. So now you're not signing me up for a new subscription but there is a one-time fee of $15 to add my current service to my car?"

"Yes."

"I'm not paying that."

"Hang on, let me contact my supervisor to see what we can do about this."

Literally 3 seconds later, "Oh good news sir. Your $15 fee has been waived. Is there anything else I can help you with?"

"Have a good weekend Brittany."
