A song also written by Eddie Rabbitt with piano accompaniment by Ronnie Milsap who also sung Smoky Mountain Rain.

So there is quite a rain legacy to this song.

I'm correcting my opinion. Are we allowed to do that on this website?

You Never Even Called Me By My Name by David Allan Coe - written by Steve Goodman and John Prine.

“I love a rainy night” is another Eddie Rabbitt rain classic.

I unironically love 'Blame It On The Rain', and despise Blind Melon's 'No Rain'.
That song, and band both suck ass.
I voted for Purple Rain, and my write in votes are Rain by Madonna, and The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin.

Could have nominated two CCR rain songs.

The Rain Song by Zep from the TSRTS might be their best song after Stairway.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxEu0QN6nzk

The studio version sucks compared to this one. It was recorded in a D tuning on the low string, but the live version is in E. Hard to tune up, but sounds much better. I play this song all the time on my Guild DCE-5 acoustic.

JPJ's string accompaniment with the mellotron is beautiful. They were all geniuses.

Stairway is not Zeppelin's best song.

Have you listened to any of the live versions? That's where the magic is with Jimmy's solos. He never played the same solo twice.

The Songs Remains The Same version of Stairway is very good, but there were better versions from the '73 tour, like Seattle and Vancouver. Even the first night in Chicago is very good. The '71 versions are great, because Plant's voice was still high registering and he could hit all the high notes at the end.

Yes, they're great...but that still doesn't make it their best song.
