I like Forever too (not better than 36 Chambers, sorry) but you have a point...if they had pared it down to one single album and got rid of the filler then it *would* have been on the level of 36 Chambers I think

I remember around that time it was the hip thing to do to release a double album- there was the Wu-Tang, the Biggie one, 2Pac, Bone Thugs N Harmony....and not a damn one of them should have been a double album. Except maybe All Eyez On Me....

I agree on the double CD's being narrowed to one, and IMO All Eyez On Me should have been the only double CD.

To Be Fair to The Wu. They had 11 members at the time including Cap and Streetlife. Maybe it watered down the overall product, but if anyone had a reason to put out a double disc it was them.

I had a hard time even getting it down to one without cutting someone out.

got my Wu Massacre vinyl today....it has some really cool artwork..in addition to the normal cover as shown earlier in the thread, there are individual illustrations of each of the 3 on these mini-posters. it's pretty cool, especially considering it wasn't "delux" or "limited edition"

Wu-Tang Clan member Cappadonna says 'recording has begun' on new album

It's all being done in the secret Wu-Tang Bat chamber,' says rapper

Earlier this week, Method Man said that the band were working on a new release to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their classic debut LP 'Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)' - and now, in an interview with Radio.com, Cappadonna has confirmed that "recording has begun" on a new LP.

"I already spoke to the RZA," he said. "We've been texting each other. We’re definitely concentrating on more positivity and teachings and trying to put that back into the original recipe for this next Wu-Tang album."

He went on to add: "The recording has begun. I'm on tour and I will be doing more recording for the Wu album in the next week or so. It's all being done in the secret Wu-Tang Bat chamber. RZA has all the tracks lined up. There are recordings taking place in New York, LA and perhaps at the Wu mansion in New Jersey.

"A lot of the tracks are lined up and already there," he concluded of the band's recording process. "We all have to get a date and go there and submit verses. At that time, he [RZA] may give you a topic or you might hear something going on already. That's how he designs the songs."

Wu-Tang Clan released 'Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)' in November 1993. Their last studio album, '8 Diagrams', was released in 2007 following a six-year gap from their 2001 LP 'Iron Flag'. The hip-hop group are set to play this summer's Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, with Blur, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds and My Bloody Valentine also on the bill.

My favorite Method Man album is Blackout with Redman. Not solo, but its just those two for the most part.

As far as truly solo albums, Tical is the best one.

uh oh, looks like Rae and Ghost are slacking off....

Quote:
It's like, wow, I kept trying to pull people together. I spent a lot of money and a lot of time this year. I put my movie career on hold for the first half of the year because I was focusing on making this. I went down to Memphis, I went down to Philadelphia, I came back to the East Coast to reopen the Wu Mansion [RZA's old house in New Jersey, where a bulk of post–36 Chambers material was recorded]. I invested thousands of dollars to rebuild it so that we can have a place to record a new album. And when I scheduled that to happen, only a few good brothers showed up.

And one of the guys who showed up the most was Method Man. He showed the most tenacity, he was the most vocal, he showed up the most, and he got the most lyrics on the new album. He's already recorded eight or nine songs. He’s been on it. You know, I give Cappadonna credit, he’s been really on it. U-God has been present. Masta Killa be representing. Inspectah Deck has been somewhat present. Ghost has been, you know, 20 percent present. And Raekwon hasn't shown up at all. When you look at somebody like Masta Killa and U-God, they seem to have that original hunger to complete the legacy. I respect that everybody [is] busy with they own lives. I started with a plan that I thought would work. Now maybe my plan not working.

Later, he added, "I feel like we have enough material on the album. I just need Raekwon to come onboard fully. I need some more energy from Ghost and GZA. If they give that energy, I will give us a great last album. If they don't give us the energy, I gotta figure out a plan B."

To which Raekwon said, via Twitter: "Yea i just read that rza article? Shit is funny to me. I love u rza, u know what it really is."

Rae and Rza have been nearly feuding for a while (Rae wants other producers on Wu albums)

But, to name Deck, MK, Capp, and UGOD as "wanting it" is bullshit.

They're there because they aint got nothing else to do.

Credit to Meth though. Dude just works.

here you go....

i like it, production is nice and clean even though the chorus is a bit hokey
GZA sounds weird, like the pitch of his voice is shifted or something

No doubt. These bastards need a much heavier dose of Rae and Ghost. I am done with Ugod Cappa's nonsense.

Yesterday, Wu-Tang Clan dropped "Keep Watch", the first single from their 20th anniversary album A Better Tomorrow, which is apparently "almost ready to ship." The sudden emergence of a single from the album was something of a surprise considering RZA's comments about Raekwon's lack of participation.

Now, in an enormous Wu-Tang feature in Grantland, Raekwon has elaborated on his thoughts about the upcoming album, which was reportedly largely being helmed by RZA.

“I would be the first one to say that we cannot leave everything in RZA’s hand no more,” Rae says. “He has done his job to the greatest of his ability when we were younger, but now every man plays an imperative role in this situation. His plan was to do a more humble album. We was like, Nah. You can’t do that with the hardest group in the game.”

“We knew that wasn’t no single,” he said of "Family Reunion", the track RZA shared last summer. He also talked about the difficulty of getting everyone on the same page:

It’s like getting the United Nations to all agree on one fucking thing,” Rae sputters. “Italy ain’t having it. Japan is on some shit. You know what I mean? Now, here it is, the 20-year anniversary that’s so decoratedly respected that we might not even be on time for this shit.”

There are quotes from several other members of the group about the new album, including GZA, who said, “It would be great to do another album, come back with a banger. But I don’t think we have anything to prove. We proved it already.”
Check out the entire feature. Watch a Pitchfork.tv interview with RZA:
