yeah, there's no major industry helping this album at all, whether it's macklemore LLC or def jam or whatever label you like, someone somewhere had a stake in this album blowing up and getting on the radio every 10-15 minutes.... don't be naive, this isn't the little engine that could putting out an album and going grassroots then ZOMFG THE QUALITY OF THE SONG WAS SO WAY UP THERE THE RADIO COULDN'T HELP BUT PLAY IT 3 TIMES AN HOUR!!!! it came right out of the gates at #2 FFS

Even if he has some help from the established media, it's still pretty cool that a guy who worked hard as an independent for many years was able to finally break through. Also, it's pretty cool that a guy that has struggled with a lot of issues in his life seems to have come out of it and gotten his life back together.

The only time I listened to him a lot was when I was in LA a few months back, as the main Hip Hop/R&B station out there played his songs about once every hour it seemed....I actually thought he was from LA because of that. And then I was in Peoria this weekend, and the main station there also played his stuff. They also played the heck out of Ariana Grande's song The Way.
