When I saw them play on the Angst tour, they started the show by playing the entire album , front to back, in order
pretty suspicious

the earlier stuff actually holds up fairly well over time compared to some of the other Wax Trax stuff that became dated like a month after it was released

I've always declared Perfect From Now On my favorite, but "Time Trap" and "You Were Right" are really hitting the spot tonight.

Had a lapse in judgement and Amazon'd this for myself in the same general time frame that the new Pearl Jam album was released and the slightly less new (but new nonetheless) NIN still held a firm spot in my rotation. Can't stop listening to this. Lyrical content and the execution of said content is probably the most important thing to me when it comes to deciding whether or not I listen to something, and on this one, the lyrical content and execution are so fucking terrible that it's legendary (the title of one of the songs is Your Pussy's Glued to a Building on Fire). The quality of the recordings is such that you'd almost believe it was somehow transferred directly from a cave painting. Despite that, some of guitaring is flat out beautiful- it's liable to get stuck in your head after just one spin. If you can make it past the suck and baddity that is John Frusciante's singing, it's really worth checking out.

I didn't feel the new Avett Brothers was bad, just sounded a lot like the last album. Guess the new album was part of their previous recording session?

Yup exactly. They are the tracks that didn't make the last album. It was alright. I have a lot of their stuff and
kind of cooling on them lately. They just put out a lot of material.

Yeah I've seen them twice and completely agree with your mixed bag assessment. When they're on they're really on though. My biggest personal highlight was seeing "Stop the Show" with the rare intro included.

Also you inspired me to listen to Spiderland for the first time in a while tonight. I know "Good Morning Captain" is the hip song to love but "Washer" never fails to draw    from me.

because i'm a horror fan, "nosferatu man" is my favorite track. i love the guitar on that track, the shrillness of it, and the contrasts of low talking to screaming and the building, the waves of sounds...it's awesome. but yeah "washer" is an excellent track.

my favorite thing about the BTS show i saw was they played my favorite built song ever, "velvet waltz"...and i think they played it for like 15 minutes. i could listen to that song for an entire day. it's so groovy.

Kind of on a Bon Scott kick. I remember reading that much of Back in Black was written before Bon died. It's interesting to imagine the songs on that album sung by him.
