But the title of the thread is best album after age 40. In terms of commercial success, nearly 30 million copies sold and six Grammys for a record made after age 40 is going to be tough to beat.
You're right, I wasn't just trying to collect people's favorite albums from artists over 40, but was instead trying to get a list going of albums that either through critical acclaim, cult status, or sales could be considered an artist's best. However, my one quibble with your selection is, Unplugged was mostly (if not entirely) material that had already been released. Therefore, it's not material he created after he was 40.
