I can barely remember Darko's party....but, if it's the story where I met the band and hung out with them for an hour, then yeah.

That's the one

now that's pretty damn cool...

I forgot about Korn at the Metro in 96...Limp Bizkit opened.

TINC were a great live band, and that first LP is underrated - hard to compare to Refused, who I don't think I ever got to see (have a feeling I would have remembered it).

Rush - Roll the Bones Tour, Tinley Park: Awesome live show. Seen them too many times to mention, but this show was the top.

Smashing Pumpkins 1993 - Iowa Memorial Union: This was my first real pit experience. No seats, large ballroom, SP rocked for 2+ hours.

Metallica 1993, Carver Hawkeye Arena. No openers - 3 hours of Metallica Best part was sweating like crazy and then walking home in -10 degree wind chills. Caught Kirk's pick too.

I was there too, and I totally agree. There were rumors that Ozzy wouldn't be performing. I would've left after SOAD and not felt cheated. They were awesome.

I've got the DVD for this run he did at the Vic. I think it might have been more like 4 or 5 shows, and I think it might have been more in 2004 or 2005. I wanted to get tickets, but they sold out almost instantly. The DVD is excellent, and i'm sure seeing it in person would have been even better.

A few from Fitzgerald's:

Dale Watson - I Hate These Songs had just been released.
Those Darn Accordions - saw them right after they had released their first CD (and two members left the group). What a fun show.
Most any show by CJ Chenier or Billy Joe Shaver (when Eddy was still alive)

Also, saw a great show by Banda Arkangel R-15 at Noa-Noa in Stone Park, back around 1996.

Was that the one that was filmed for MTV? If so, I was there as well. Great show.

Yes it was, and yes it was a great show.

You're about the 4th one here that was there too.

Here are some of mine off the top of my head...

Green Day at the Aragon (weird that so many of us were at the same concert.): Funny story from this show, me and my buddy sat in one of those opera boxes and there was a dad and his teenaged daughter up there in the same box, pretty much just the 4 of us in there. As per my custom, I was smoking tons of weed during the show and early on the daughter went to the bathroom and the dad asked me to smoke him up and not to tell his daugter. No prob. Later on, the dad went to the bathroom and the daughter asked me to smoke her up and not tell her dad. Midway through the show I called them out for being stoners and for the rest of the show all 3 of were passing the joints together.

Robert Cray at the Riv (probably around 91-92)

Smashing Pumpkins at the Metro (their last concert before their first breakup, at least I think that's what it was)

Ani Difranco at the Metro. Got there early and stood front center for the entire show. Was blowing weed smoke at Ani all concert, she loved it.

Living Color at the Metro: easily the most underrated band of all time.

Grateful Dead at Soldier Field: last dead show ever, only one I ever went to. Music fucking sucked, but I was on 4 hits of acid so what did I care.

Santana at Poplar Creek, 1987: first time I ever smoked pot.

Foreigner at Rosemont Horizon: I only put this here cause it was the first concert I ever went to and I vowed that I would never go to another concert again in my life because I could smell people smoking pot.

Best Concert I didn't attend: Nirvana at the Aragon (Heart SHaped box tour). Turned down a ticket cause I figured I would just catch them next time they came through town. Moron.

That was the 4 hour or so show, right? I was at that. My job at the time was fixing copiers, and I had the office at the Metro as one of my accounts. They were not on a service plan, so normally I would have had to charge them, but I exchanged their charge for 2 passes to the show, and had them cancel the service call. 8)

I wasn't a big Green Day fan at the time. I guess I considered them a little commercial, although I thought "Longview" was a great song. But my girlfriend at the time won the tickets and didn't want to go, so I went with one of my buddies. That was a great show and they made a believer out of me.

Also, some time in the mid or late 80s my band opened up a show for the Meatmen in a barn outside of Ames, Iowa, I think. It's kind of hazy, but Tesco truly is a fucking lunatic. That was a killer live show. And to play on the bill just made it that much better.
