I've only heard a handful of these tracks, but they're all fantastic.
Especially Black Muddy River by Bruce Hornsby and the dudes from Bon Iver.
I'll have to listen to the whole thing on Spotify.

The rhythm section brothers look like they could be real life stoners, The Dessner twins look like they're above it all, and Berninger is just a funny-ass alkie...........(allegedly)..........

I guess I can see it sort of but no influence early National paid homage to The Afghan Whigs and definitely had pixies influence. Just crazy for there to be that many contributions to the dead. Will Oldham I see. But hey we all liked doing drugs in the 90's

Gotta say I dig this album overall. Never thought I would see J Mascis cover the dead but it actually works a lot better than I could have thought. The whole thing is fun and tasteful.
