Just got back from Against Me! at Durty Nellies.

Apparently it was an all ages show so no alcohol sales inside the show. What the fuck?

Against Me! is really good though. Heard most of the stuff I wanted to hear.

I'm never prepared... Honestly, when was the last time you were at a show with no beer?

Went to the first two of Wilco's four night run at Chicago Theatre. Good stuff, although last time they did their Winterlude run (at the Riv) I don't remember there being as many repeats*. Probably going on Sunday as well- hopefully they diversify their funds. Tonight's show will be broadcast on XRT at 9 (I think).

Wife wants me to take to her to see 311 this summer.
I have some friends from MN that are going to tour this summer/spring. Devata Daun and C. Kostra.
Wife is seeing Billy Joel at Wrigley Field with her niece, brother, and sis-in law.

I'm waiting for Tool to tour. Other than that, it will likely be a light summer for me.

Personally , I thought the sound was awful.
Way too much bass, vocals sounded really muddled

I doubt that most of the crowd knew that el-p was in a group before run the jewels (young crowd, even for a 18+ show) and a rum and coke should never be $14 but mostly the sound really sucked

Went to both of these also, and I agree with both assessments.

Japandroids were great. Awesome energy.

RTJ played for maybe an hour and five minutes. They cut off a few of their songs part way through, they've been better when I've seen them before. The openers were terrible.
The Aragon was it's typical self: bad sound, oversold. And it was probably 90% male, so the lines for the bathroom and beer were well beyond manageable. Took us probably a half hour to get out of there after the show.

Pitchfork lineup announced tomorrow. I'd be stunned of the lineup doesn't include PJ Harvey, Angel Olsen, Solange and Pinegrove for sure. Those seem like locks.

Lots of people are saying Tribe and LCD sound system, but those seem huge for Pitchfork. Especially after the disastrous lineup they had last year. I could see maybe one of those, but not both. I'd be thrilled if it happened though.

I'm gonna smack you at Pitchfork this year.

And then stand directly in front of you the whole weekend.

Brought my darling 10 year old daughter Madeline and her darling BFF Lily to see indie darlings Lily and Madeleine at North Central College. Good show. Very empowering. The artists were very nice to the girls, and totes adorbs.

I can't see LCD doing this after headlining lolla last year ( which itself was a awesome set)

Stay tuned for the triumphant return of Hazardous Youth. Thirty years in the making. Had I known we would be playing in 2017 I would have named the band something different.

Any of our Southwest boondocks members want to see a cool show this Friday?

Ike Reilly is playing the Uptown Grille in LaSalle Illinois.

I just spoke with him at Mickey Finn's in Libertyville. He said he's not quite sure what to expect from the locals... Get out there and show him some support!

 Not bad.

We just practiced for the second time on Tuesday. It's a lot harder playing this shit when you're fifty than when you're eighteen.

One of the songs has an unorthodox chord structure. We were running through it and Timmy stopped us and said, "The A-sharp is all wrong. It doesn't make any sense." I said, "You wrote the song." And he said, "Yeah, but that was 35 years ago. I didn't know what I was doing and I could hardly play guitar." He wanted to change it but I said, "It is what it is, fuckin' punk rock!"

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at the Auditorium in June. Only been there once, for Tom Waits. I sat in the upper, upper, upper balcony for that one. For this, I splurged for the upper balcony. Probably would be closer if they played at Guaranteed Rate Field and sat in the upper tank.

Fuck festivals now and forever. Oh hey, Super Furry Animals are reuniting and touring the Midwest. Medium-sized theaters, great! Oh, their Chicago date is at Pitchfork. Fuck.
