A guilty pleasure of mine... I like to look for some bad Youtube covers periodially...

Original - Industrial Disease - Dire Straits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rWuc5kar3Y

Cover - Alex Jazz Butterworth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhJ5SZT-Hq4

Many people liked The Fugees version of Killing Me Softly with His Song, but I thought it was garbage and paled in comparison to Roberta Flack's original.

Also don't like Disturbed's version of Land of Confusion.

Hootie Rucker
Wagon Wheel.

You took a solid song that was not old at all and then made it boring and shitty.

This will come off as a bit strange since it's technically a band covering it's own song, but the Eagles doing "Take It To The Limit" with Frey doing lead vocals was fine enough one time around for the charm of being able to hear it live but on repeat listens you realize Glenn had no business trying to do that vocal.

Lenny Kravitz' version of American Woman by The Guess Who takes a shit song and makes it even shittier.

I understood it was a comeuppance for Glenn for essentially getting Randy out of the band.

Glenn's voice aged the worst of 'em all. Little to no range at the end.

In a similar vein, I thought Clapton's unplugged Layla was an abomination.

How could the guy take an emotionally tortured and heart-wrenching tale of unrequited love and turn it into a weak ass blue shuffle for aging Baby Boomers in their rocking chairs? Unconscionable! And "Tears In Heaven"? Someone should throw Clapton out a window.

Has their even been a bigger waste of talent than Clapton? Dude is probably one of the greatest guitar players of all time, but has a complete shit catalog from his entire solo career.

Rod Stewart. I can remember reading a review in Circus or Creem probably around the time of Atlantic Crossing that said something like, "Rarely has there been a rock singer as talented as Rod Stewart and even more rarely has such a singer so thoroughly betrayed such talent."

Yes, that's another good one. He was so good with The Faces.

Just cashing in on the Unplugged craze. That version sure got old fast.

Speaking of covers and Rod Stewart, he can stop making Christmas albums and other standards anytime. I do like The Motown Song, but he needs to get out of the way of the Temptations and just let them sing it.
