3. ...And Justice for All
4. Kill Em All
5. Ride the Lightning
6. Load
7. Hardwired
8. Reload
9. Death Magnetic

I can make a case for each of the first four especially.

How do you rank them?

You don't want to know who is putting Reload up top? You know somebody is holding it in.

Man, Reload was such a pile of shit from beginning to end. At least Load had Until It Sleeps and Bleeding Me.

If I hear Devil's Dance, Where the Wild Things Are, or Slither once every 2 years, it scratches the itch. But Reload was unfortunate.

Garage Days should be ranked too.

I forgot about Devil's Dance. I like Kirk's playing on that one.

I left the Garage Days.../Inc off because it was covers, but I agree - they did some really good stuff on there, particularly the 5 on Garage Days Revisited.

Metallica started to suck after Cliff Burton died and Bob Rock's pretentious ass came rolling on in.

I agree. Kill 'Em All is really all the Metallica I need. Master of Puppets is good too. Garage Days is a nice bunch of covers.

i didn't mind the band becoming "pop" with the black album; but "load" was the writing on the wall. "st. anger" was a fist up the ass.

a good friend of mine works shows now as a carpenter, doing letters and logos mostly. he got to see a metallica show recently. he said it was so over the top, except for when they played some of their classics. and they still think they're big deals. when the show was over, they high tailed it in each of their own escalades, with police following whirring their sirens as if they were all in ambulances.

like no one's following you, dudes. no one cares about you anymore.

Clearly they are still a big deal. They just fell into what any other huge band does. You get commercial or you run out of steam and live off your early days. Pick any older band and it is mostly true. The Stones are the kings of it I guess. Anyway contrary to what was posted prior you can just give the Cliff death time stamp a rest. Justice and Black are perfectly fine records. Then they can stop playing anything else live.

1. Master
2. Lightning
3. Justice
4. Kill 'em All
5. Black Album
6. Hardwired
7. Garage Days
8. Load (has a few ok songs)

The rest is pure shit.

Random Fact...

There's not one Metallica song that's good enough to be on Megadeth's Rust In Peace.

I don't know if that's true, but regardless, Dave Mustaine is a pussy hair farmer.

I always disliked them. The symphony stuff was cool though.

I know it sounds weird but for some reason I really enjoyed it. Maybe I'm just a high class rock fan.

Rust in peace was amazing but I'll take kill em all, master of puppets and lightning over it.
The rest of metallica save garage days was disappointing.

I'll take Peace Sells, Rust In Peace and Youthanasia over any Metallica album with the opinion that no Metallica song is better than any song on Rust.

Megadeth were always the better band. Especially with the Mustaine, Ellefson, Friendman, Menza lineup. Their songs were way more complex because the musicians were far superior.

I'll still take Metallica over Slayer.

Anthrax doesn't belong in the Big 4. Testament were better.

...And Justice for All was excellent (minus the production) largely because Burton's influence on the music was still apparent. I'm pretty sure he wrote "To Live is to Die."

The Black album was the true point of demarcation where the band was no longer what it had been up to that point. It has some classic tunes for sure but it was the beginning of their identity crisis. I always thought that the whole "no side projects" thing kind of contributed to that.

Its an interesting point.

I really like Rust in Peace but feel like its head and shoulders better than the rest of their material.
