The 1978 Tour represents peak Talking Heads as far as my tastes are concerned. Take a listen to this live version of “The Big Country” from one of their Chicago dates in September: https://youtu.be/H9u-svYr3aY Definitely my personal favorite. There are something like 50 FM broadcasts & soundboards in circulation from 1975-1980, and you can find pretty much every single one of them on Dime & Trader’s Den. Hell, I’m seeding a combined 30 on both sites right now. I find it pointless to go back to the studio material because the live shit blows it out of the water. |

"This Must Be the Place" is not only their best song but one of the best songs ever (by which I mean one of my favorites, natch). But really, I can't pick and rank from the first five albums. Just about everything is a winner. More Songs About Buildings and Food, you're compelled to play straight through every time (or at least up through "Stay Hungry"). |
