Not really an album but a compilation of three individually released EPs that trickled out in December/January. I put them off figuring they'd be bundled together eventually. Anyway, digging a lot of it so far, especially "Sweet Dew Lee" and "I'll Be Your Pilot," but B&S is definitely a warm-weather band for me, and I probably can't fully embrace a lot of this till I'm out on a nice day again. I felt like their album a few years ago was too dance-y and sort of lost the plot, but this sounds more like they used to with just a little bit of soul/disco in the mix, except "Poor Boy," which could have been left off the last album. Looking forward to how this one grows on me.

Since it's de rigueur, favorite Belle and Sebastian songs:

Your Cover's Blown
Lazy Line Painter Jane
Dress Up In You
Like Dylan in the Movies
Sleep the Clock Around
Stay Loose
White Collar Boy
For the Price of a Cup of Tea
Asleep on a Sunbeam

I thought Nobody's Empire was a fine song but you're right, the rest of the album blew. Glad they are returning to form.

Dress Up In You is one of the greatest songs ever, let alone the greatest Belle & Sebastian song

I love it (I don't think there's a single bad track on The Life Pursuit) but I still can't put it ahead of those other two, which I tend to flip-flop between 1 and 1A depending on mood.

"There Is an Everlasting Song" is practically a Tigermilk/IFFS song. "Best Friend" feels like a Camera Obscura song, which is funny because they're basically girl-led Belle and Sebastian anyway.

5 songs in. "Everything Is Now" is a tasty little jam.
