Ween Wrapping Up Album
Apr 25, 2007

If all goes according to schedule, Ween should be finished recording its album by the end of the month.

The act's holed up in the studio with producer Andrew Weiss (Ween, Horsey) working on its follow-up to 2003's Quebec. Although the band hasn't pinned down a release date, it reported that it hopes to have the record on shelves in late summer or early fall. It's also contemplating using leftover songs for an EP to surface at roughly the same time as the still-untitled album.

"It is going to be an amazing record," the band wrote on its website. "I'm very skeptical when anyone makes claims about their new music so I'll just say that I can't wait for the album to be released. "

I still never quite digested Quebec. Do you like it?

It took a while for the album as a whole to grow on me. It wasn't as instantly catchy as Chocolate & Cheese, and not as enjoyable in its absurdity as The Mollusk or Country Greats. Of course I loved "It's Gonna Be A Long Night", "Chocolate Town", and "I Don't Want It" at the outset, but "Among His Tribe", "The Argus", and "If You Could Save Yourself (You'd Save Us All)" took a while to work themselves into the pantheon of Ween staples, but I thoroughly enjoy them now.

I like Quebec. Any album with a song called 'Zoloft' is OK with me.

interesting thoughts. i cannot wait for this album to come out. it's weird to think that it's been 4 years since their last studio album.

i actually instantly liked "quebec", much like "the mollusk". with ween, i know there's gonna be at least one or two tracks that'll take a little while to get used to, but i thought "quebec" was quite consistent. i love singing to "if you could save yourself (you could save us all)", when he really belts it; and i've lamented before that the guitar solo in "i don't want it" chokes me up good for some reason.

i think "the mollusk" is my favorite record, "chocolate & cheese" following close.

I'm guilty of this too, and am greatly looking forward to during so drunkenly along with the band, live.

Also, why is it that I can't help but think of T. Diddly when I hear "Don't Get 2 Close (2 My Fantasy)"? 8)
