Cool breakdown of this magnificent song. Tom Scholz was the mastermind, but boy is Brad Delp awesome.

Nobody cares about the genius of Tom Scholz if not for Brad Delp.

I sold Tom Scholz speakers when he had the company that made the Rockman™. I talked to that douchebag on the phone. Then he stiffed me. Still owes me money.

We all assumed you had guys. Are you saying you don't have guys?

That Rockman was a piece of garbage anyway.

I also sold speakers to Steve Albini. Steve pays his bills like a champion. Fuck Tom Scholz.

I gotta figure that dirty Armenian Sib Hashian (RIP) had something to do with this.

Don't tell that to Mutt Lange. All the guitar tracks on Hysteria were recorded from a Rockman....explains the shitty tone.

The thing had like one tone - crunch. I borrowed it from my friend for a couple days, I hated it.

That was probably that walkman looking thing huh? I think for a while he made some of the effects more professionally in racks and etc. I don't remember many sustainers before him. I saw a video once where he could get the note to ring out forever basically until the next one was struck.

That's it, Mike. It looked like a big Walkman. But everything sounded like trebly, crunchy high-end. It was supposed to replace needing a bunch of pedals, i guess. And it had delay and stuff. No wonder Def Leppard liked it.

It made you sound just like Boston.

Hold on just a minute.....I'm all for ripping on Tom Sholz for being a douche, but the guitar tone and playing on the first Boston album is pretty fucking good. He wouldn't be the first highly talented asswipe in the music industry.

It's certainly a signature sound. I just don't think every kid who picked up a guitar needed to sound the same way.

Anyway, it's a matter of personal taste. I like guitars that sound like guitars. I don't care for that over-processed sound. I think we've discussed before how the remixes ruined all that great old ZZ Topp stuff with echo, making it sound like it was recorded in a closet.

How much? We should start a GoFundMe and shame him in the process. Nothing draws the board together quite like a stupid cause.

It wasn't a lot of money. It's not like he ever used my stuff for production. He bought a few small speakers from me and then never paid.
