Tool seems to hit those same specific never-shut-the-fuck-up-about-this-one-band neuroreceptors that Frank Zappa and the Grateful Dead hit, but for dumb guys from midwestern exurbs.

I iike "Undertow" and "AEnima".
Lateralus and 10,000 didn't do much for me.

I'm sure I'll hear some of the new stuff, but they lost me a long time ago.

Tool continues to improve and push the limits of their songwriting. They'll never lose me.

Vicarious, Parabola, Rosetta Stoned, Eulogy, Stinkfist, Forty-Six and 2! I could go on and on.

Add in APC and Pucifer and you have one hell of a play list. Maynard is a fucking lyrical genius.

We need the fucking space

Fuck you! I can't say what I want to, even if I'm not serious. I can't say what I want to, even if I'm not serious. Things like: "Go fuck yourself! Go fuck yourself, you piece of shit, why don't you just go... kill yourself?" I said, "I can't say...

First heard Tool on The Blaze 103.5. That station was great for introducing lesser-known bands such as Dream Theater (Pull Me Under), Extreme (Am I Ever Gonna Change?), and Tool (Sober).

A rock station playing Dream Theater is unimaginable today. Not the biggest Dream Theater fan but I'm glad they got commercial airplay.

You know, of course, that I am an insufferable completionist Frank Zappa fan. Kindred spirits, we.

We've done a Worst Band Subcultures thread here before, haven't we? We must have. I think Juggalos were #1 and Parrotheads were #2. If they weren't, how were they not?

Parrotheads are fucking horrible.

I think there were a few years in the early 2010s where the only acts that ran Alpine Valley were Jimmy Buffett and Dave Matthews Band, and both commanded fleets of shuttle buses from LG to East Troy. I wonder how much overlap there was.

Speaking of which, 15 years ago today was the dreaded Dave Matthews Poop Bus incident.

Fixed.

They begrudgingly played Tool, and only Sober. And only in 1994 as grunge was in full force.

I've only seen them live once. It was this awesome visual concert and the first 45 minutes were pretty memorable. Then they played Pushit and I swear to god the lead guitar just hit the same fucking note every minute or so for about 25 minutes while everyone just sat down and was like what the fuck is going on. Completely killed the buzz for the rest of the show. I'm assuming the newer stuff probably won't translate live, but its not half bad. Seems like continuation of what Maynard was doing on the later Perfect Circle album and some of 10,000 days.

so, the physical copies of the album sold out and people are putting the three variants online and asking $150 each for a $35 retail. pretty crazy. another batch is supposed to come out in a couple weeks.

Invincible is my favorite song.
