The best recording I've come across of this song is from the BBC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-rJOFs6tgU Anyone who grew up in the 70s can relate to this song, when we still played board games and life and human contact was still real. It's a very soulful song with excellent lyrics, dynamism with the guitar work, tempo and changes of tempo, and harmonies. REM at their best. They and U2 ruled the 90s. |

I can do everything up through Automatic for the People, but look out below after that one. U2 made it up through the Passengers album before they got to completists-only. |

For my money, New Adventures in Hi-Fi is R.E.M.'s best album. It doesn't have the show stopping singles, but it's solid from start to finish and has a sound that's pretty distinctive viz a viz their other albums. |

Um no....................................... Lest We Forget The fastest Band In The World METALLICA |

"Man on the Moon" is a very good song, but "Nightswimming" is my favorite off Automatic for the People: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVT0S0j7F9Y |

The pre-eminent metal band being named "Metallica" really cemented metal's niche status to me. It's like the #1 polka band being "the Polka Kings" or something. |

Ignoreland is absolutely a banger. Someone also mentioned New Adventures In Hi-Fi. If you haven't heard it, check out "Leave". That's a top 10 REM song of all time, IMO. |

To me, Man in the Moon will always be the early 90s sappy teen romance first date movie I went to with some rich daughter of a Loyola doctor and nurse who was way out of my league. |
