Jimmy Buffett's early work was actually very good. He saw $$ and followed it. Can't say i blame him, but I understand the hate. KISS.....Gene and Paul are certainly un-likeable but Destroyer through Love Gun is credible rock. Creatures of the Night is also very good. Yes, they were always marketing over music, but there is some quality there. Plus....I fucking love Ace Frehley's guitar playing. For me personally: 1. Def Leppard - Post Pyromania 2. Shania Twain There's a theme here....anything touched by Mutt Lange is complete garbage. |

I know I'm 15 years late, but i'll add GOOD CHARLOTTE My God I remember a drum student of mine (at the time) mentioning them. I listened and thought "yep....we're doomed". |

DMB There are a lot of cookie cutter bands around right now that all seem to have choirs or large choruses for background vocals...horrible sounds. |

Funeral holds an immensely special place in my heart as The Record that really turned me onto indie rock as a teenager, but seriously the Suburbs was no less great than the two albums that preceeded it. |

Most crazy-metal is pretty awful--black metal, white metal, cookie monster vocals, etc--but at least I respect their commitment to their vision, like those really bad punk bands that would play in front of 53 people in a dilapidated Rogers Park storefront with brown butcher paper lining the windows. I also grudgingly admire doom metal's attempts to bring back the world of Beowulf and occasionally give classical violinists work. |

That's a good question. The Kinks, maybe, but they had split up I think? Genesis had a few solid albums after Gabriel left, but then they became pop vomit. |

The Kinks were relevant for at least 20 years. Then they broke up. Ray has remained relevant for nearly the entire time since the early/mid 60s. |
