I have a soft spot for these songs, as would many who came of age in the '80s and early '90s.

The textbook music snobs can look elsewhere--I enjoy some highbrow as well, but what about the memories of some of these?

--I'll Never Let You Go (Angel Eyes): Steelheart
--Poison / House of Fire: Alice Cooper
--Livin' on a Prayer: Bon Jovi
--Something To Believe In / Every Rose Has its Thorn: Poison
--Love Song: Tesla
--Fly to the Angels: Slaughter
--The Flame: Cheap Trick

I'm sure there are many others. Any other suggestions?

Power ballads pretty much suck.

I must confess that I greatly enjoy rocking out to "Livin' on a Prayer". Not sure I would label it a power ballad, though.

Incidentally, I think Cheap Trick's "Surrender" is one of the best American pop songs of the past thirty years.

"when i see you smile" - bad english
"sister christian" - night ranger
"love bites" - def leppard
"don't cry" - guns n' roses

and i still consider "amazing" and "crazy" by aerosmith to be a power ballad.

"Heaven" by Warrant
"More than Words" by Extreme (maybe just a ballad...not so much a power ballad)
The song by Scorpion where they do all of the whistling
"Patience" by GNR

3:14-3:35 of the link, and the guitar is a Zuba like Zebra pattern.
Classic.
I'm gonna request it on Jack FM on the way home today.

Scott,
If you're going Areosmith, "Dream On" has to make the cut.

My cousin's first dance with his new bride at his wedding reception was Firehouse's "Love Of A Lifetime".

But wasn't that pre-Power Ballad era? I thought that was late 70s?

"I Belive" - Joe Satriani

Man did we rock back in the day

All chuckles aside, at least the Mustangs and my cousin put some thought into it beyond "The Way You Look Tonight".

My idiot friend and his new bride entered to "Eye of The Tiger" by Survivor last year, which immediately caused me and one of the other groomsmen to each do a huge pull off the flask of Jameson.

All these are good but I wanted to add Without You and Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue.

My hubby and I were introduced to the tune of Monday Night Football Theme. Not the Hank Willimas JR the other one.

I'm sure the other people in the office are wondering why I'm doing the slow head bang as well. :D

Don't Cry - Guns N Roses
Love of a Lifetime - Firehouse
Have you Ever Needed Someone So Bad - Def Leppard
I'll Be There For You - Bon Jovi
I want to Know What Love Is - Foreigner

For the record, yes Dream On was before the power ballad era, but that's cause it INVENTED the power ballad. Later perfected with Cryin, Crazy, Amazing......

There was a great SNL skit that made fun of those three songs...since they are basically all the same song...
