I thought about throwing Mr. Jones into the other thread. But didn’t.

November Rain is tough to top given only one choice regardless of genre.

Bro...Holla if ya hear me...you’re in my sweet spot there.

I’ve wanted to name songs like Lord Knows or Krazy but I know that’s just my bias

Those are embarrassingly boring picks, but the weirder ones I like just aren't as good.

The '90s were too good. You can't get it down to five.

You could get five from the Backstreet Boys alone!

I had 100.3 on last Sunday because they were doing a "throwback weekend" or something. I was alarmed that the throwbacks went as recent as "We Found Love" by Rihanna, but hey. Anyway, they played "Show Me the Meaning (of Being Lonely)" and I swear I hadn't thought about that one since it came out. I remember "Larger Than Life" because burned into my memory is the time my friend told my best friend's sister "hey Larger Than Life is about your ass" and the simplicity and cruelty of it stands out to me 21 years later.

I have so many guilty pleasures from 1998-2000 pop music, but you know what, funny thing, no guilty pleasures with the boy bands. Just never appealed to me. But "Blue" by eiffel-65 did. Hm.

A top 5 by genre would be so much easier.

I know I've said this before but Boyz II Men had a really good thing going before the dueling boy bands swooped in. "On Bended Knee" and "One Sweet Day" were IN-ES-CAP-AB-LE in '94-'95 and then they just sorta fizzled out. BSB songs never even had the doo-wop bridge where the bass was like

Girl.
I am so sorry.
I will never do the thing that I did.
You are my girl.
And you are my world.
Baby.
I wish I had never done whatever the thing was.

Since 90's music is 99% of my band's setlist...here is what I'd say are the top 5 crowd pleasers:
1. Killing In the Name Of... - RATM
2. Semi-Charmed Life - TEB
3. Flagpole Sitta - Harvey Danger
4. Slide - Goo Goo Dolls (:puker: )
5. Even Flow - PJ

My favorite 90's songs we play
1. Killing In the Name Of... - RATM
2. Semi-Charmed Life - TEB
3. Give it Away - RHcP
4. Always On the Run - Lenny Kravitz
5. Welcome To Paradise - Green Day

Favs We don't Play
1. Here In Your Bedroom - Goldfinger
2. The Handshake - Bad Religion (or really anything from "Stranger than Fiction")
3. Down With Disease - Phish
4. In the Meantime - Spacehog
5. Hold Me down - Gin Blossoms

Good mention with Bob Mould...
All 6 songs of Beaster makes my top 90's play list. I still love that one....wish it were a full album.
