And that first song wasn't all that good. The millennial hipsters I used to teach used to go crazy when I'd say that.

AC/DC is the best at playing the same song and still being awesome.
Coldplay is most meh at playing the same song over and over.

Van Halen but in 2 phases depending on the lead singer. I won’t bother to include the guy from Extreme.

Has anyone mentioned Tool?

As much as I love them, Dinosaur Jr has been treading the same water for the last 20 years.

I couldn't tell you anything about their recent work but I remember reading a review once where the guy said that J. never played a less than interesting solo in his life and I would agree with that.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are the first one I think of.

But they actually have like 3-4 different songs and they arranged them and put out the same album every few years.

Weezer has a unique sound that is present in most songs but still very different ones. It doesnt make a ton of sense, but its early and I've been working late all week!

i know at least pittmike is. REM has at least 5 albums that don't sound anything like each other, and almost nothing green day puts out today sounds like what they did in the early-mid 90's.
