Not in the top 10 but a couple of acts I really enjoy from Canada include Great Lake Swimmers and City and Colour.

Broken Social Scene has some moments.

For shame! They sound a bit dated now but they rocked the 80's.

Takin care of business might single handedly be the largest pile of shit song with an even larger pile of shit for lyrics.

I didn't think it would be that hard to find 10 solid Canadian bands but Nickelback belongs on that list and they are absolutely terrible.

It is also a damn shame that Sum 41 isn't on there. They can absolutely rip and have quite a few head bangers in their catalogue. They can also play Metallica better than Metallica.

Almost forgot: A guy who lived across Frat Park from us, who was the son of a Central Illinois farmer, and who himself was apparently born in Canada, used to claim that Red Rider, had they been American, would have been considered to be in the "upper echelon" of rock bands. I had never heard of them, though I had, of course, heard the song "Lunatic Fringe." Once, when "Life Is a Highway" was all the rage, we were sitting at Gully's and he kind of slapped me on the arm and said, "See?"

I have to admit that "Life is a Highway" is on my phone because I have pleasant memories of the summer in which it came out.

I saw the Milky Way for the first time at his parents' farm. I was like, "What the hell is that?"

ETA: Oh yeah, he had some issues and wore them on his sleeve. I guess the guy was adopted, and once, after I used the verb "adopt" for the second time in a two-hour conversation, he walked out of the bar. When we left, he came at me with this rehearsed speech about how adopted kids yada yada yada and how he'd appreciate if I insulted him to his face. After I explained how I was sorry and that I had no idea, he wanted to hug me and everyone else there. Later, I helped him move everything out of his girlfriend's apartment (we were friends), and he had several expensive framed photos and prints he was taking. When he got the first one to his car, he smashed it in a rage, and then decided it was a foolish thing to do. Then he smashed the second one, before vowing not the destroy the third and fourth. "Don't let me do it!" he said. But he did. Intense man--scary intense.

So, Red Rider.

ALVVAYS and Broken Social Scene for the win. I thought I had replied to this post with my thoughts on Crash Test Dummies but I guess it didn't post. I saw them open a couple of Elvis Costello shows at Alpine Valley and then The World Music Theater (I believe it was for EC's Mighty Like A Rose tour). My girlfriend and I had really good seats at one of the shows, like third row, and after CTD finished either "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" or "God Shuffled His Feet", (I don't exactly recall, it was like 30 years ago), I screamed "That was fucking amazing". Brad Roberts looked directly at me and said "You're not too bad yourself" and winked. It was awesome. And props also to JORR for his Broken Social Scene mention. I've also listened to a fair amount of Our Lady Peace this week, as well as the singer's drop dead gotgeous wife, Chantal Kreviazuk.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ne_2SN4gGjQ
