Seconds Out is my all time favorite live recording (this is not from that)

Phil Collins solo efforts seem to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying in a narrower way, especially songs like "In the Air Tonight" and "Against All Odds". But I also think that Phil Collins works better within the confines of the group than as a solo artist-and I stress the word artist.

Phil's rendition of Suppers Ready on that album (especially during Apocalypse / Eggs) is every bit as great and powerful than Pete ever did.

I'll never forgive him for Sussudio...one of the 5 worst songs ever to become a radio hit IMO.

I'll forgive him, but agree that it is a steaming pile of shit, as is "Billy Don't Lose My Number".

I have a love / hate relationship with Phil Collins. I respect and like much of his work and strenuously hate a lot of it, as well.

Sussudio is a great tune. Hang up on yourself.

I like both from a vocal standpoint, but I prefer the drumming on the Foxtrot version to Seconds Out.

Well its not Phil drumming on Seconds Out during it ( only during the Apocalypse) .

That's right...Bruford or Thompson?

All the best Genesis songs are because of the Phenix Horns.

Post subject:  Re: Phil Collins

Both actually . Most of it was Chester but a couple of the songs they put on the album were from when Bruford was on the tour .

His best solo song is Hand in Hand . Instrumental with the Phenix boys featured prominently .

We've been fooled over the years by the spry Mick Jagger's, Paul McCartney's and Rod Stewart's of the world, but sadly Phil's health is more typical for someone his age. It's awful the way that they trotted him out for a cash grab last year. Hopefully, he's doing better. I've enjoyed all of his eras with Abacab Genesis being my favorite Phil Collins vocal effort.
