Anyone going to see the New Pornographers at Metro tonight?

The new CD isn't as strong as the last two, but I still like it and am looking forward to the show. This will be the sixth time I've seen A.C. Newman and/or the New Pornographers live. They always bring a lot of energy to the stage. If you're going, look for the tall midget at the back of the room. I'll probably be at Sheffield's, Goose Island or Redmond's getting hammered between 7:30 and 9:15.

true, but 'myriad harbour' is one of their finer moments.

Actually, the more I listen to the new CD, the more I like it.

As you say, "Myriad Harbour" is a great song. But I wouldn't even call it the best Bejar track on Challengers. That honor goes to "The Spirit of Giving", which was incredible in concert. I also think "Heaven and Earth", "Adventures in Solitude" (another great song live), "Mutiny, I Promise You", "Failsafe" and "All the Old Showstoppers" are very strong as well. All in all, while I wouldn't say the new album is quite as pornographic in its pop excesses as any of the first three NP CDs, it is still very good--just a little different than what I might've expected.
