Likewise, Cheryl Crow's rendition of "Sweet Child O' Mine". Is Sean P. Puffy Diddy Daddy's "Come With Me" considered a cover? |

My answer would be any of the countless 80's songs covered by generic, nu-metal/pseudo-indie bands Like the "Boys Of Summer" that some band did before the All-Star game last year or the year before. Covering Don Henley is not cool in any kind of way, ironic or not |

Like the "Boys Of Summer" that some band did before the All-Star game last year or the year before. Covering Don Henley is not cool in any kind of way, ironic or not Even when you try to name drop Black Flag during said cover. While I agree with you Baku, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes can be fun sometimes, if not completely and utterly disposable. |

My wife REALLY likes them, we saw them at Metro a year or so ago. They kept saying before each song "This one is a cover" hahah To me, and this is not indicative of my views on punk in general, most of covers by punk bands are really straightforward and they all sound the same to me. A cover is only good to me if it adds something to the original and should be different in some way, otherwise what's the point. I just realized I forgot Stars version of "This Charming Man", which is a good example, it's like a trip-hop version that just samples the actual guitar riff in the chorus. It's great. |

Bizare love triangle by frente comes to mind as a bad cover. Boys of summer was the Ataris, I think. |

You are correct. Their only tolerable song ever was "San Dimas High School Football Rules". |

One of the covers that I actually like is "It's My Life". Originally recorded by Talk Talk, re-recorded by Gwen Stefani. |

"Mrs. Robinson" by the Lemonheads. One of the great songs from my favorite film of all time (The Graduate). Who the hell is Evan Dondo, and who put him in charge of this flop? Another worthless remake by this band: "Plaster Caster" from the "Kiss My Ass" tribute album. |

Another worthless remake by this band: "Plaster Caster" from the "Kiss My Ass" tribute album. I didn't think that Mrs. Robinson was that bad of a cover. It's also featured in Wayne's World 2. |

Mushroomhead do a cool version of this song. It's the hidden track on XIII. |

I actually like the GnR version of Live and Let Die. Alanis's version of Sweet Child should be banned from the airwaves forever. |

I'm surprised that we made it this far without any of the horrendous nu-metal covers being mentioned Limp Bizkit - "Faith" Korn - "Word Up" Disturbed - "Land of Confusion" Dope - "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" Orgy - "Blue Monday" |

I'm would venture you could say that about 99% of all tribute albums. I'm sure there's one or two good ones but I can't think of them off the top of my head |

Encomium is hit and miss. |
