Kid, you're probably right in that it could apply to Mos Def as well. You and Bagels both are probably right that I'm being a total stick in the mud here.
The Beautiful Struggle was the last TK output I paid any attention to, and to me it was just kind of a "ho hum" effort (in my most humble opinion). Both Eardrum and Liberation were kind of off the radar for me, except for hearing the former once in a friend's car and being a little surprised by the production (mighta been "Say Something," now that I'm digging).
I've always been more of a "singles" guy and TK's string of releases through the early 00's - at a time I was heavy into growing my ears - just didn't give me the same kind of boners that Black Star did. Maybe it was the right time / age / place / etc. for it, but I feel (personally/IMO/etc.) that the dude has fallen off real hard and while I'll definitely give "Quality" and anything specific you guys want to recommend me a chance, I just don't know...
Sorry for going on at length, I do love talking music, especially when I feel like my dumb peculiarities might have backed me into a corner. Thanks for not reaming me
