I'll start.
There are more than a few bands that I simply can't tolerate.
Here are 5 of them, in no particular order, just off the top of my head.

Godsmack
The Offspring
3 Doors Down
Sublime
Fall Out Boy

Any others?

Fuck...I like three of those, and must admit I do own a 3 Doors Down album, though I can't say where it is at the moment...

Wow Spanky,
I think The Dead had some good songs, and they were a good band. Not a fan.
Kravitz used to be good. "Mama Said" was my favorite. Still like the old
stuff, but I have stopped paying attention.

Just as you are free to disagree with my picks, I have to strongly disagree
with your choice of Black Crowes.
I love 'em.

Saw them open for Aerosmith at Alpine Valley like 17 years ago. But I also saw them at the Aragon
when Jellyfish opened. That was fucking awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWuSrc53 ... re=related

Chris Robinson is one of the best singer-frontmans I've ever seen, and he's fucking hilarious
in interviews too.

Take it a step further boys and say why. I can't wait until somebody's diatribe about my beloved Aerosmith.

Kravitz - Agreed 100%. OK, we get it. You play every instrument. We now realize that you suck at them too. Play more than 3 basic chords once in a while. Ya think you EVER would have even had a recording contract if your mom wasn't a Jefferson?

White Stripes - The sister / drummer / wife / whatever sucks. I will get arugment on this but I don't think the music is very good at all. Oh yeah... and how are you just a guitar and drums when your most popular song (Seven Mile Army) is based on a BASS LICK!!!

I know there's more but for some reason I'm blanking at the moment. More later.

Now I will continue to wait for my wife's show to be over so I can get to watching the DVR'd Hawks game.

Coldplay is for fems.
And I never got the appeal of U2.
If you haven't been brainwashed by Boner, try The Alarm--they are twice the band U2 ever wanted to be.

It won't be me. I like Aerosmith.
I think Kravitz' mom was on the Jeffersons, but I thought she was their neighbor.

White Stripes - I happen to like them, but what I like more is Jack White's other band,
The Raconteurs. Even though Meg can't really play drums, she has a spectacular rack.

I like Coldplay.
I LOVE U2.

I agree The Alarm were pretty great, but they were more like U2 acolytes.
Not twice the band U2 ever wanted to be.
If you never got the appeal of U2, what got you interested in The Alarm?
Similar themes, similar sound.
Are you saying that 20 years ago, when The Alarm was still relevant, you
decided that "Boner" was in the brainwashing business?

Bono started out telling the world about bad times in Northern Ireland. That morphed very quickly into how the rest of the world was evil for not realizing what was going on in Northern Ireland. That soon changed to how the rest of the world was ignoring the rest of the rest of the rest of the world. And in the meantime, Bono and the rest of the boys seem to have moved along from Ireland. Have they tried to solve NI's problems? I don't know. They did bring it to the attention of the US, but how much money and effort have they given since 1982? Once again, I don't know. Shame the rest of us for not forgiving Africa's debt all you want, but a band is just a band.

And songs like "Give Me Love" and "Sixty Eight Guns" (to me) have more emotion and energy than anything in the U2 catalogue.

Yay, I love this thread. I don't agree with all the bands people are hatin' on but you know, music is one of those things...

I have to put these guys in the same bundle: Simple Plan, Fall-Out Boy, Good Charlotte. FRAT PUNK GARBAGE. They all look like assholes, and Jesus, just because you have a thousand tattoos doesn't somehow make you hard core or a punk. You all have NOTHING on Johnny Rotten, you posers.

John fuckin' Mayer - I hate him because he is super talented, hilarious, and you wouldn't know that at ALL by that radio friendly Disneyised shit he churns out. The guy can get laid all he wants, he's a rock star. And apparently he's well endowed. Put out a good record! Christ.

Singer/songwriter pretentious-to-the-max - Damien Rice, Alanis Morisette, Daniel Powter, James Blunt, kiss my fuckin' ass...you assbags can't sing, your lyrics are weak and empty.

Country Pop - complete asshattery. Put them all in a blender, and when it's done...pour it into the toilet, and flush that shit down.

(I realize that I've broadened this thread into attacking styles of music too, but I don't care, I'm riffing...)

Featuring - You can't put out a record on your own, you have to FEATURE someone all the time? I'm Tom Assclown featuring some artist that was really popular but now is in between three different bands--buy my record! Or hey, I got some more featured people on iTunes you can download for a dollar a piece!

So much bullshit in the music industry...I wish I didn't love it so much.

Oh yeah, and Jewel--I couldn't leave you out, you sell out whore. I don't know what was more annoying, the soulless "folk" garbage you put out when you were putting out to put out? Or the soulless pop garbage you put out when you were too old for anyone to care about you putting out anymore...fuckin' bitch.

Ok that's it for now...have a nice day! :D

Ummm.

I can respect anyone's taste in music.
Different strokes.
I will just say that your U2 history lesson is laughable.
Yeah, Boner is rich as fuck. Being rich allows a person
to bestow effort and resources that the average person
can't. He has. He's contributed more toward the pursuit of ending poverty
than I have, or ever will. Is it because he's rich, or because he cares?
I don't know. It's not why I love U2.
Guess I just don't understand why people make him out to be a douchebag.
I admit I'm sensitive, and have an attachment to the band.
I'm not attacking you for having a different opinion.

When's the last time you saw Mike Peters?

I can't think of anything funny.

I did think of a couple more bands I can't stand.

Staind.
Steve Miller Band
Disturbed
Cake

That's part of my disdain. Another minor thing is - what's up w/ the costume changes?
I'm not talking about on stage, I mean in life! Are you a hippie? A spaceman? Cross-dresser? Is that scarf sewn on your neck? If I hang out with you, do I have to tell you how great you are first? Oh yeah, and his music sucks. I have never heard less soul and feeling in music that is supposed to be full of soul and feeling. :puker:

Seven Nation Army - not one of their best songs, IMO. I am a fan, though. I think Jack White is a great talent, unfortunately he has Meg tag along with him. You just have to tolerate her to listen to him. Sort of like how I tolerated the rhythm section of U2 - you know, the ones without much rhythm - back when I used to listen to them. Jack White is great live - seen them several times. One of the best shows I've been to was seeing them open for Sleater-Kinney at Metro @ 8 years ago. Like a bullet-train for two+ hours between the two bands.

I saw them at Aragon also - not sure if it was the same show. I just drank heavily in order to make it through the show.
I have a pet peeve against bands that spend as much time cramming their personal messages/itineraries down my throat as they do playing music. Regardless of what the message is or whether I support it (see: U2).

That being said - I get it guys, you're pro-legalization. Stop telling me. Stop showing me - and just play the damn songs. I disagree about C. Robinson too - he seems like the weak link - bad voice and, when I saw them, bad presence. Again, I think his priorities may be a little out of whack.

Bruce Springsteen. Maybe someone could try and explain this to me?
