Maybe this has been discussed but if not...this is the best song about Chicago men ever. Even if you dont like hip hop just listen to the lyrics...hysterical. I bet your singing this at work all day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqrtoFWglMY Serengeti "If I was coach of da bears we'd have at least 10 winds, Dennehy offensive line, Berenger at Tight end" "Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls Bulls" |

I'm pretty sure I've posted this before, but let's sing about Wicker Park gentrification again. "Here Comes The Neighborhood" by The Lawrence Arms wrote: i work on belmont, but i live in wicker park all my friends are bartenders in all the coolest bars my girlfriend's in the coolest band that you've ever seen they play the empty bottle every week. I've got everything i need. my loft, my motorcycle, my hip restaurant down the street and my neighbors are all artists or hot girls over 18 who needs community when you live right in your scene? from jinx to betty's blue star, everybody knows my name from north ave down to augusta, everybody's all the same it's a playground fueled by beer, no chicagoans live here. it's a playground fueled by beer, no chicagoans live here. it's geography bound tightly by big city dreams. and when the property value's raised you'll be on your merry ways like the poor outclassed families before you you've already paved From ashland to western, chicago to north ave congratulations kids, your shallow model city is sinking, sinking down. you've become what you swore that you'd never be. |

can't believe you guys are all talking classic rock when the video that prompted this thread is way more appropriate and also probably the most brilliant thing i've ever heard/seen. that shit is going to be stuck in my head for days. re: stink, definitely agreed on the lawrence arms tip. maybe not necessarily that song, but at a certain point it's just like "pick one." they were playing "ghost stories" at pick me up the last time i was in there and i hadn't heard that record in years... holds up a lot better than i guess you would expect. |

that song wins, i got my friends all hooked on it and it sparked a really elaborate nostalgia trip re: Venture. i can't believe the song is not a "bigger deal" (i.e. only hearing about it for the first time here) but i guess that might be due to the dude's other tracks being kinda douche-y. |
