I tried to get tickets, but was unsuccessful. The Live Nation site could not handle the traffic. There is still three and a half months until the shows, so I have time. The Alpine shows are the final two shows of the tour, so the tickets might be hard to come by.

'Police seize more than $1M from Phish fans'

updated 4:27 p.m. CT, Mon., March. 9, 2009

HAMPTON, Va. - Some Phish fans are leaving Hampton a little lighter than when they arrived for the band’s weekend reunion.

Police said Monday they confiscated about $1.2 million in illegal drugs and more than $68,000 in cash from concertgoers. Authorities also arrested 194 Phish fans during the three-night celebration of the band’s return to the stage after a nearly five-year absence.

Most of the arrests were for drug possession, use and distribution, police said. Tourism officials had estimated 75,000 fans would be coming to the coastal Virginia city. Nearly 200 law enforcement officers worked the weekend event, with the Vermont-based band picking up the tab.

I thought this band retired like twice already. Just reading these setlists makes me have olfactory hallucinations of ferrets sleeping on patchouli-soaked hoodies. Pretending I gave a shit about these guys was one of the less enjoyable parts of my high school social life.

I tried to like them back in high school, but I could not do it. They sounded terrible and still do. I would rather hear 1 guitar playing 3 good chords, than hear 18 guitars (played buy guys in bad beards) play the same chord.... on weeeed.

Post subject:  Re: Phish

Phish has one guitarist, not 18. And they play more than one chord. It sounds like you have never even heard the band.

Post subject:  Re: Phish

i think chus and favrefan already know i like to bust on this band, but it's mainly because of a lot of the fanbase that drives me nuts...that's kind of unfair, but i have never been into jam bands anyway. however, i have to say some of their studio stuff is solid. and "rift" and "hoist" still are kinda nostalgic for me, in a way...

Most criticism of this band seems to come from people who don't know Phish's product. Or they're just hating on neo-hippies.

Set 2: Cross-eyed and Painless > Down with Disease > Bug > Piper > Wading in the Velvet Sea, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Slave to the Traffic Light, E: Grind, Frankenstein

These were the 44th and 45th Phish shows that I have attended, and I had a great time. Saturday's show was a little bit better, but Sunday was fun, too. I wasn't expecting much, since Trey was very sloppy the last time I saw them, but it appears that he really is sober now. The weather was okay, Saturday was hot and humid (which is never good when one is surrounded by body odor and patchouli), Sunday had rain during the day, and cooler and windy conditions in the evening. I almost forgot how great Alpine Valley was, as I had not been there since Phish played there in 2004 on my birthday. These were the final two shows of leg one of the summer tour. The second leg kicks off in Colorado, at the greatest concert venue in the country, Red Rocks (Shoreline, The Gorge, and Deer Creek are in the team photo).

8.13.09 Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, Darien Center, NY
8.14.09 The Comcast Theater, Hartford, CT
8.15.09 Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, MD
8.16.09 Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs, NY

I believe that Chicago tickets are still available. I have tickets for the shows in bold, but I am still debating on whether or not to go to Red Rocks, or sell them at a premium on ebay. My wife really wants me to sell them, but this may be one of my last chances to go to Red Rocks, as we are going to start a family soon.

Been to Merriweather Post and Saratoga when I lived out east. Neither venue is anything special
but Saratoga is great if you love horse racing during the day and concerts at night.
